In Dallas love field airport. Fries are gluten free. Grilled chicken is gluten free. No buns or bread. Sandwich on a lettuce wrap or grilled nuggets are safe.
My celiac husband eats here all the time and hasn’t had a problem! They have GF buns, and he gets the grilled chicken sandwich or grilled nuggets with fries. Ice Dream is also GF. When we order a milkshake we ask them to clean the machine first as they have a cookies and cream shake that could cross contaminate.
My son have celiac and he ate gluten free item but, unfortunately got sick after eat there...:(
I have eaten at CFAs a half dozen times. However, I had a bad reaction after my recent visit to the legends location. I had a grilled chicken salad. I notified the staff of my allergy. Half way though my salad, I found two pieces of fried chicken in my bowl. I was sick all afternoon. The staff of kids were not knowledgeable of food allergies and unapologetic when I brought it to their attention. Spoke to one of my sons friends that work there. He said they make the salads ahead of time and pull and replace the fried chicken for baked when it is ordered. Dangerous practice for me. I will not return to this location.
We went through the drive through to try to get breakfast for my celiac daughter on our recent road trip. I asked if the hash browns were gluten free. I was told NO, nothing was gluten free except the gluten free bun. I was told that everything is put in the same oil. We were in the drive through and then had to stay in the line while we waited our turn. I'm not sure if it was an overly cautious employee or the store doesn't have a dedicated fryer. Ended up getting GF brownie from Dunkin down the road instead. Which, though not ideal to eat for breakfast... we were almost home and it had to be quick.
I have eaten at this Chick-fil-A location many times and never gotten sick. They have a separate fryer for their fries and chicken products. The fries are made in canola oil and all of their chicken is fried in peanut oil. I always get their grilled nuggets and fries. Chick-fil-A sauce is gluten free too!!! Be sure to tell them you have a gluten allergy (I actually have Celiac, but sometimes saying that confuses them, but they understand when you say “I can’t have gluten”), and they will “red flag” your order, meaning that everyone on the line will change their gloves, etc. before handling your food.
My husband who is celiac was able to eat here without any cc. The young cashier was knowledgeable about celiac. He was unable to eat the waffle fries but had a grilled chicken sandwich. The bun was in its own plastic wrapping. I recommend highly this place!
Team leader took our order and answered questions about dedicated frier(canola oil) for fries. Staff also changes gloves for fries and grilled chicken when a gluten “allergy” is declared during ordering. We love having a place to have a quick lunch with friends. We order fries and grilled nuggets. Never tried GF bun, but is available here.
I explained as I ordered that I needed the allergy flag and glove changes. The sweet lady who rung me up clearly didn’t know much about CD. She didn’t flag the allergy, gave me a wrap when I ordered grilled nuggets, and gave my husband fried nuggets when he also ordered grilled. I ended up getting contaminated.
We have ordered the grilled nuggets and fries a few times and my Celiac and sensitive girls have been okay. However, every time I ask the staff to mark our order as a gluten allergy, which they can do, they look at me like I'm crazy and have to ask a manager. So, I guess we have been lucky since they make the fries in a different fryer than the breaded chicken and grill the nuggets.
My sister and I are both very sensitive to gluten and have been here multiple times and have never had a problem. At this location specifically, the service is awesome! The workers are always willing to help and will answer your questions. They can alter meals to make them safe (ex - remove tortilla strips and pumpkin seeds seasoned with barley from their southwest salad)
Staff was super nice and accommodating. They do not have the grilled nuggets anymore, but they suggested the grilled chicken sandwich with no bun. And the fries are still fried separately. Just ate it and it was really good. I’ll update this post if it makes me sick.
