Had planned to eat here and asked about GF options. They have a separate gluten free menu but GF options are cooked on the same grill surface and fryers as other glutinous foods. They advise that cross contamination occurs and isn’t avoidable. We decided not to eat here. Could be ok for someone who is gluten-avoidant but with celiac I wouldn’t dine here.
We went to Chili’s last night. I was nervous, but I saw online they had a gluten free menu. Went in and the manager came to the table. I told her I was GF- she showed me the menu (QR code on their table kiosk). She also said she would let the kitchen know if my needs so they could avoid CC as much as possible. I also told our waitress of my “allergy” and she was quick to make a note.
I got the Classic Ribeye Steak with loaded mashed potatoes and broccoli. I’m pretty sensitive, so I was still nervous even though I felt the manager took precautions. I did not have a reaction!
I can’t say if I recommend on a regular occasion, but I’d go back and try again! Specifically ask for the manager, she was great and made me feel comfortable.
Food was meh- it’s Chilis. However- I didn’t have to cook, so for days where I’m tired of making everything myself, it’s nice to know there’s options.
They were very accommodating it was so nice to come and feel like someone was as worried as I was that could actually see inside the kitchen. I had a very good waitress who I did not get the name of she said her friend also has celiac disease so she knows it can be tough. She also brought out the manager who said they had the kitchen reset and a portion of the stove cleared and deep cleaned for me (I know better than that I still ordered a steak and paid the consequences. I just didn’t think about it I’m still new) I just appreciated the effort. They did let me know some of the items on the gluten free menu are made in a factory that also handles wheat so I was able to stay away from those (baked potato soup in particular). I ended up getting mashed potatoes but she said salad is also very safe because they put it in a mixer and nothing else touches in there. I went a few days later and had the mashed potatoes with no steak and did not get sick.
Had an amazing experience! The food was delicious. The waitress did a great job in making sure it was gluten free for me. Unsure about how much it would affect a person for cross contamination, but I had no issues and was very pleased with my food!
