My family went there for dinner last night. Both my mother and myself are sensitive to gluten, so we informed the server. She was great about letting us know which options were safe for us to eat and which items on the menu had gluten. The menu offered gluten free pizza crust, as well as gluten free pasta. Some of the options did state if it was not possible to make gluten free, which was helpful. They also had a list of gluten free options for the gelato, which was great!
Just went there with my family which includes my daughter ( 11yrs old) with celiac disease . We were traveling and on our way back home and had been there in years prior to my daughter being diagnosed and always had a great meal . Asked our server about the gluten free pasta and if it was boiled in separate water. She said it was and was going to speak to the kitchen so we were assured . The owner came out shortly after and asked who was celiac . He explained how careful they are and how serious they take food allergies. Told us the brand of pasta used and about his son’s friend with celiac and how he understands the severity . She wanted an Alfredo sauce and he said it was also safe and how they prepare it . We all had a delicious meal and I felt very comfortable with her eating. She finished the pasta and said it was delicious . Can’t wait to go back to Lancaster and try it again . So many options to choose from on their menu
My wife and I have eaten here a few times before and I've had no problems. Last night we went there for her birthday since it's her favorite place. I got the pasta Mediterranean with gluten free noodles. I have celiacs and will become violently ill roughly two hours after eating gluten. Well I started eating the pasta and something in my head told me to double check with the waiter that it was GF. He said that it was so I continued eating. Well guess what I was doing 2-3 hours later last night. You guessed it, violently throwing up 4x. This was by far the worst gluten contamination I've ever gotten. Super disappointing and I plan on calling the manager and complaining later today. If you have celiacs, be advised.
Read good reviews about this place, so we decided to try it. Got there at 5:00pm. Was asked if we had reservations. I said no. Hostess rolled eyes and said that the only table available (which mind you, we got there at 5:00 and there were tons of tables open) would be one where the people who DID reserve the table would be coming in at 6:00. She then asked if we could be done eating by then. I thought "wow, that's rude..but ok, we'll try to eat fast." Sat down at a table that was really close to the people next to us. Ordered a VIRGIN Bloody Mary, since I'm highly allergic to alcohol. Heard the specials. Asked if the pork special was gluten free, since I have Celiac's disease. Waitress stated she'll check, but never did. Got my Bloody Mary...took 2 sips of it...and tasted vodka! Ummm... I asked for a virgin one for a reason! Had waitress take it back and make sure that it's virgin. Received a second virgin Bloody Mary, and this time there was no alcohol. But at this point I was already having a reaction to the first Bloody Mary. Ordered gluten free sausage rustics pizza. Got the pizza...looked good..tasted gross. The Pizza wasn't sliced, and the middle of the pizza was soft and squishy. Could only stomach a couple of pieces. Paid the bill while having an allergic reaction to alcohol, packed up my soggy gluten free pizza, and left with a bad taste in my mouth. Will not be back to this restaurant.
***On the positive.... We did finish the meal in an hour so the people who DiD reserve the table could sit down and eat......
Great selection of gluten free pizzas and one or two pasta dishes. The best part of the meal is their homemade gelato for dessert. With all sorts of flavors (free tastings to help you decide) like peanut butter, peach, mango, mint chocolate chip, mama mia, chocolate just to name a few.
Now some of the pizza are exellent, and some of the pizzas are very bad. The all veggie pizza had so much garlic on it and was one of the greasiest pizzas I have ever eaten. I ate one piece of my personal pan pizza and could not eat any more. On the other hand, the sausage rustica pizza was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. The crust and toppings were fantastic and I would order again. Be warned this is an Italian place, so not all the pizzas come with tomato sauce, some have no sauce, and others have olive oil with sauce (my greasy veggie pizza had no sauce).
As far as the rest of the menu goes for non GF people, it is just ok. I have had pannins and pasta there, none of which have been memorable. Not to say they were bad, but not good enough to make me want to run out and go there again. Slightly up scale atmosphere with some very cozy booths.
Overall my recommendation is to skip straight to dessert and just order a massive gelato because thats what keeps me going back. I could eat the mint chocolate chip and peanut butter gelatos every day for the rest of my life!
Excellent salmon and GF lasagna. Best of all they have a great attitude about being careful to make sure your meal is safe.
