Had a great experience here on Labor Day weekend. Hostess asked if we needed a GF menu at the door. A fair selection of GF options including GF bread that wasn’t bad (I don’t like most GF bread). The staff was knowledgeable and told me (without my asking) that the kitchen has a separate space for preparing GF orders. I am celiac, but I don’t have symptoms. I enjoyed the crab & spinach dip appetizer and the broiled whitefish with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Very good food, very good experience. I’ll be back when in the area again.
I called to place a carryout order. They took forever tl finally take our order and when i asked for the GF whitefish (that i saw on the menu of another post here), they said it cant be GF…. So i asked what fish could be made GF, and they said only the Salmon… so that’s what i ended up ordering. I was craving fish and i hopefully i feel ok tomorrow after eating… will update this later
I came here a week ago and am disappointed to say that my experience was less-than-stellar and in many ways just bad. I came here because it had good ratings for gluten-free food (I have celiac.) They had a gluten-free menu from which I ordered a bowl of soup and made sure it was put in as a gluten allergy so it would be taken seriously. After waiting for almost 30 minutes for a single bowl of soup (I was ordering to-go!) they brought out a box with the bowl of soup in it right next to two biscuits, which I was then told by the manager were not gluten-free. He then told me that it hadn't been put in as a gluten allergy at all, calling into question the safety of the soup itself. After 30 minutes of wasted time, they comped the check and I left, more hungry and much less satisfied than when I entered.
It’s rare I go somewhere and have loads of options, so this menu was impressive! The staff was knowledgeable and the food was SO delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone who is gluten intolerant.
They also have a vegetarian and vegan menu for those that have additional restrictions!
Staff were very knowledgeable about what was GF, and if they had any question about it, they asked the chef. I did not feel like eating a heavy meal that evening, so had a bowl of the Cheddar Broccoli soup with a side salad with added chicken. It was very yummy! I felt very safe. They passed glutenous biscuits out to everyone, and said that if I wanted GF bread, just to let my server know [I did not want any].
My 7 year old daughter has celiac. The hostess asked if we had any dietary restrictions right upon entering the restaurant. She made sure to let our server know. Our server was excellent and very thoughtful with my daughter’s meal and gave us a wonderful, safe dining experience.
My daughter had a grilled cheese and mashed potatoes. They brought her bread when the biscuits came around. Good service too!
Great food and atmosphere. The gluten free menu was extensive and tasted great. Very much appreciate that.
This restaurant was lovely! The waitress was amazing, and the food was really good. I originally was using a regular menu because the food items have “GF” printed next to them. But, when I asked if the soul of the day was GF, the waitress asked if I wanted to see the gluten free menu. That menu had more options including a whole page for vegan and vegetarian options. I don’t know if those are gluten free though. The toast was delicious, and I ordered the 5 cheese pasta. It was sooo good. I highly recommend. Best part? I didn’t get sick. 10/10
We were very impressed with the separate gluten free menu which included buns, pasta, jambalaya, fish, steak. They had complimentary gluten free bread option in place of biscuit. We loved the five cheese pasta, whitefish and jambalaya. Very tasty!! Waiter was very attentive to gluten-free, modifying salads and spitting dishes.
Stopped here today, it was a great experience. We walked in and first thing they asked if there were any allergies such as gluten free or if we needed a vegetarian or vegan menu. While the GF menu was not large it was adequate. I had the 5 cheese rotini, it was very tasty. The waitress we had was fantastic, very attentive, helpful and concerned.
Waitress was nice and welcoming. However food quality sub par. First and foremost the manager came out w fresh buns ready to toss one on my plate without asking if I’d like one or asking if I’m able to eat one- they were not gluten free. Waitress brought out one slice of burnt gf toast while I waited for my entree. I ordered the gf Mediterranean pasta w chicken. When it came out, it was dull in color, noodles over cooked and shredded - you could tell just thrown in the bowl. It was supposed to have peppers of which there were few. Chicken dry and overcooked. Flavor absent and not worth the price. In fact my worst meal I’ve ever eaten gluten free. Clearly there is no concern that those of us reduced to minimal options means minimal care in what’s offered. I will never return and never recommend it. My bf had 5 cheese w chicken penne, not gf, and it looked like cheese soup dumped over noodles- he said hardly any flavor. Very disappointing as we were traveling and like anyone these days money wed prefer to pay toward quality rather then garbage on a plate. I’ll refer all celiacs to the local Julianne Tomatoes in Petoskey who not only took my celiac to heart but personally assured me they care… the sandwich’s there were top notch.
Specific gluten-free menu. Also vegan section on menu. Delicious veggie stir fry! Highly recommend!
Gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian menu. Very nice to see this. Ordered the salmon entree and while the meal was good the salmon lacked seasoning and flavor. Cooked to perfection though so that was good. Provided gluten free toasted bread which was good.
I ate here once on a road trip. It is home to the best gluten free bun on the planet. I wish I had asked what brand it was.
Shared fryer so opt for a side salad. Overall very good.
While the service was great and we were reassured about their safety precautions several times, I unfortunately became ill within minutes of leaving. Very disappointing because the meal was very tasty.
They have a separate gluten free menu. It is lumped in with Vegan and Vegetarian, but there is a gluten free only section! There is no dedicated fryer, so there is cross contamination with gluten.
We ordered stuffed mushrooms, gumbo, shellfish chowder, broiled whitefish, jambalaya, and pineapple coconut Crème brûlée. It was all delicious! We went on 6/23/23 around 6-7pm and our server Jennica was absolutely wonderful. Very knowledgeable about differences between gluten intolerance and celiac’s without us needing to explain anything. As an added bonus she was a very attentive waitress as well! They flag food as celiac’s when they input the orders and they tell the kitchen. When orders are brought to the table they vocalize that it was made gluten free. Felt very comfortable here and had a great variety of options. 10/10 will come back here when in Petoskey again.
We had a wonderful time here on St Patty’s Day. Great gluten free options!
They bring out gluten free bread for you. And then there is a separate GF menu.
I had the jamabalaya without shrimp. It was delicious with a little kick.
I believe they have dessert too but I was unable to have dairy or egg so I skipped.
Great spot for family dining!
They had a Gluten Free/Vegan/Vegetarian Menu and our server was helpful and knowledgeable. The food was also delicious, I had the Jambalaya for lunch. Highly recommend!
We love the food and ambiance here, and that’s saying a lot because I have 3 very picky eaters. This time our waitress was a bit short with us, I didn’t really care for that. But the gluten free hummus was great and so was the French onion soup. They also have gluten free noodles.
Delicious good, excellent service, very knowledgeable about gluten ingredients. Awesome historic building.
Asked at the door if we had any dietary restrictions and they gave us a separate menu that listed all their GF options! Felt very good about that. Their options were a little limited and did not include the burger (even though they said they had GF buns?) but did have steak, salad, and GF pasta. They did deliver glutenous biscuits to the table which wasnt great.
Very knowledgeable about celiac and cross contamination. I got the 5 cheese pasta and a salad which where amazing. They have a separate gluten free menu and a special allergy button in the system so the kitchen was aware. Did not feel sick!
This restaurant is very sensitive to dietary needs. They have special menues: gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. The staff is very helpful also with dietary needs. The food is good, elegant without being frilly.
It seems like they’re diligent about cross contamination. I called and asked what they do and they were really awesome about it.
I got the three cheese pasta with gluten free noodles and shrimp. The taste wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great. My sister liked her gluten free sandwich, but it was definitely not the best gluten free food I’ve had!
Wonderful gluten free options in amazing atmosphere. First French onion soup I’ve had in years!
Great variety of gluten free items, also a vegan and vegetarian menu. Our waitress was knowledgeable and made sure the kitchen staff was aware of our dietary needs.
We eat here every time we are in the area. They have a gluten free menu and are very knowledgeable. The food is excellent!!
We both got the white fish with garlic cream sauce. Outstanding! Service was friendly and accommodating.
The menu lists food such as french fries and chicken wings as gluten-free but they are fried in a shared fryer. The staff is very helpful, so be sure to ask questions to be sure about your meal.
The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. We had good choices and not so good. The seafood chowder was great, the chicken gumbo was incredibly salty. My husband had salmon which he said was very good. He orders gf so we can share. I ordered the chicken marsala and didn't care for it. The sauce was very strong. The mashed potatoes and veggies were typical. It is a nice restaurant and maybe a different choice would have been better.
