Review of City Tap House

My previous experiences at the restaurant had been positive but after my experience tonight I would not recommend City Tap in the Seaport to anyone with celiac or a gluten sensitivity. They do have clearly labeled menus of items that are gluten free vs. items that could be subject to cross-contamination. I ordered a gluten free meal and confirmed with the server multiple times that I had celiac. The dish came out with a wooden marker denoting it as a dish with an allergy and the server confirmed it was gluten free. After numerous bites I realized that there was corn bread (not gluten free) in my meal. After raising my concern to the server he talked to the manager and came back and told me it was gluten free. I asked to see the menu where this ingredient was listed (not the gluten free menu) and asked to speak to the manager directly. She finally took the meal away and after many conversations with the server and cook admitted that the line cook had prepared it incorrectly and that it contained gluten. While she was very apologetic it does not help me (and how I will feel later) and it was clear that both the server and kitchen staff are not properly trained regarding gluten allergies / celiac.
