currently they do not carry gf cones :(
GF WAFFLE CONES FOR $1!!!!!!
Not all their ice cream is gluten free but they have an allergy list and it states that they make all their gluten free ice creams first. They have gluten-free waffle cones - which was amazing!!!
We have made a mission of trying all the well rated ice cream shops, which are local only, in the Portland area. Of the four we have now tried, one other comes close, but Cloud City edges them out by one star. The two things which put them over the top are just a bit more creaminess and the perfect amount (not too much) salt in the salted caramel. Also, you don't wait in a line around the block for a freaking hour for over-rated ice cream!
They are very aware of which flavors are safe for gluten sensitive's. They allow you all the flavor samples you want. As it was our first visit, I had to try multiple ones. They were very crowded, despite the cooler day. There was a large group of ten or so kids in front of us, and another group of about five kids in front of them, so there was a lot of indecisive decision making going on. LOL As someone who is indecisive myself, I can't say much, and having two kids myself, I get it.
I was disappointed they didn't have one type of ice cream. I did purchase the quart size chocolate with chocolate curls and coffee ice cream with toffee pieces. The first one was good, but very chocolaty . . . about what I'd expect. The coffee was like a better quality Ben and Jerry's. The ice cream is creamier, and the toffee is much more finely chopped up, so you don't end up with a mouth sized flat of frozen toffee filling your cheeks.
The cost was average to the competitors on the scoop level, and you catch a small break if you purchase the quart size. The spoons are those small, flattish ones typical of many ice cream shops. The only thing I'd like to see changed, is biodegradable plastic spoons for tasting and eating. It is Portland after all. :-)
In our opinion, this is the best ice cream in Portland. We will most definitely be back!
