Have a separate gluten free menu as well as a vegan menu. This is a small place so they do have kind of communal seating which isn’t for everyone. We didn’t mind it and we didn’t have to wait at all! Our server was very friendly and attentive. My favorite thing I got was the ginger mojito! It was very gingery, but I really like ginger so it was right up my alley. My husband is not as big of a ginger fan and didn’t care for it. I got an appetizer of Malaysian chili wings which are marinated with coconut milk and then have a pineapple chili sauce. They were very good but very spicy! These aren’t on the gluten free menu, but our server said that is because they are only offered seasonally and she mentioned this to me when she handed me the gluten free menu. For my entree I got the Com Chien with shredded chicken. It wasn’t bad but not very flavorful as it didn’t seem like they used any sauce or seasoning at all. I mean I appreciate that they didn’t use regular soy sauce but still... Overall I am glad that we tried this place because gluten free Asian food can be difficult to find outside of PF Chang’s. I did not get sick and would recommend this place for those who enjoy pho or other more authentic dishes.
I used to come here all the time and had amazing food. But then one time the kitchen messed up my order twice in a row. Server was very apologetic because she understands the nature of celiac. I had a bad feeling about the third bowl. Even though it looked right, I got badly glutened. I've had to be very vigilant because even though the servers get it and the kitchen supposedly has specific protocols, I've gotten orders made wrong multiple times. That was my last visit and I won't be going back. It makes me sad because the food is delicious. Update: I went back because a friend wanted to try it. Order came out correctly the first time, but I still got very sick. Major cross contamination issues in the kitchen. If you are celiac, avoid.
I enjoyed my visit to CO in Myrtle Beach, SC. It was nice to have sushi I didn’t have to make myself. I had the Philadelphia roll and Shrimp fried rice. They had a gluten free menu. I’m two hours post meal and so far no reaction. (I normally react within 20 minutes.)
NOT CELIAC SAFE! I called restaurant to confirm that could accommodate celiac disease. But when I got to the restaurant, the chef informed me that almost NOTHING is truly safe. Although there is a "gluten free" menu, none of those items are safe according to the chef and staff. The water and strainers are SHARED between gluten free noodles and gluten containing noodles. There is no dedicated fryer. All curries used shared, not clean, pots and pans and utensils. No care is taken to prevent cross contact. Don't be fooled. The staff has zero understanding of celiac disease
Last night, through Uber eats, I ordered from Co. I ordered from the gluten free section and added a note saying everything must be gluten free (I have celiac). I received my order and noticed that only one item was labeled gluten free. I called the restaurant and they assured me that everything was gluten free, despite the lack of labeling. I opened a box and saw a fried pork spring roll. I called the restaurant back and explained that my order clearly was not gluten free; they apologized and said they would send me new food. Cool. Easy solution. An hour and 15 minutes passed (over two hours from my initial order) and I still hadn't received my food. I called Co and they said that they had just been waiting on a driver. At this point it was almost 10 PM, so I opted to cancel my order because it was late and undoubtedly my food was cold from sitting there for so long. An unfortunate situation, but these things happen. Today, I still wanted Co. I ordered again through the Uber Eats app, but I wanted to do my due diligence. I called Co and explained the situation from last night and that I had just placed an order and wanted to ensure that it would all be gluten free. Of course, they assured me that it would be. I received my order and opened the container to find a fried edamame spring roll on top of my food. Immediately I called Co. The woman I spoke with assured me that it was gluten free and fried in a rice paper wrapper in its own fryer. I was still skeptical and asked her to double check. She "checked with the chef" (I assure you, she did not) and again stated that it was different from the pork spring roll given to me last night and was 100% gluten free. So, I ate it. But I didn't feel great about the situation and was starting to physically not feel well, so I called other Co locations. Every location unfortunately confirmed what I suspected. These spring rolls have a dough wrapper, they are not gluten free, etc. I then called Atlanta's Co back and the person who answered this time had the decency to be honest with me and also confirmed that the spring roll I had eaten was not gluten free. I will be sick for the next several days, if not longer. I am horrified that any restaurant conducts itself in this manner. No amount of due diligence will keep you safe if you eat at Co.
There have been mixed reviews (not on this site) about CO, but I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. I had the summer rolls, Hanoi noodles and an amazing curry laksa and had no issues. Our waitress was very helpful but as usual I asked repeatedly about what was GF to triple confirm there were no mistakes. A couple notes...someone told me that the wings are not GF despite being on the GF menu. My hubby had them and they appeared fried so I didn’t risk it. Also, the summer rolls are usually served with peanut sauce which has gluten so be sure to always ask about sauces (mine didn’t come with it but guessing this could be a common mistake). I was torn to give it three or four stars, but my dish was so good that I opted for four.
If you find yourself near this restaurant - GO! If the Curry Laksa in on the menu- get it! I have also enjoyed the green curry and the spring rolls- next time I'm in town, I will 100% certainly be back. The staff and kitchen are very knowledgeable and friendly.
gluten free menu available but food has been hit or miss im terms of taste. go on Tuesdays for half off sushi not super confident about the safety of this place. ordered 4 dishes and 2 came out wrong although the manager was there before i could say sonething to grab dishes and send em back.
They have a good sized gluten free menu. When I arrived I asked for a gluten free menu. I then ordered a spicy tuna roll. Then, the waitress brought out regular soy sauce so I asked her to please bring gluten free soy sauce. Then, when my meal arrived, it was covered in Panko crumbs. I know there is such a thing as GF Panko, but i suspected this was not the GF preparation. So when i asked about it, the waitress said “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you wanted gluten free.” Why would I want a gluten free menu and gluten free soy sauce but then get a gluten full food item? That makes no sense. Be careful eating here.
They have a nice gluten free menu. I informed the waitress that I have CD and asked for a glove change and anything else they could do to avoid cross contamination. The pho was delicious. The sauce on the side was fantastic... however it turned out to be hosin sauce that wasn't gluten free. 😔 The manager took my meal of the bill, gave me his card and apologized. Eating out has risks but I feel the restaurant really does want to have a good reputation with the gluten free community. The manager handled it as well as he could.
They have a dedicated gluten free menu and boy is it fantastic to have gf sushi. My only cautionary note would be to eat in the main dining room (where I’ve had no issues), not the bar; the one time I ordered from the bar I felt really sick afterwards
