One of the owners' mom is gf so we gave it a try. Most things are very good. The gf calamari needed a little more spice, but certainly was delicious.

Staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free. Was told the chef has celiacs so they have an entire separate section of the kitchen for gf. Filet was the best steak I have ever eaten
Wonderful food and very accommodating! They have a separate fryer for gluten free (our waitress told us that the owner's daughter has Celiac). My dad and I both have Celiac and had the gluten free crab cakes and French fries, everything was delicious and neither of us got sick after. Highly recommend!!!
GF crab cakes were so, so good! Fries were some of the best I've had even before going GF.
Delicious fried calamari. It was the first time in a while that I have had fried GF food and it was delicious. I got the crab cakes as my meal and they were delicious. Everyone else in my party also had good meals

Great staff & good food. The menu lists GF items, but please be careful: the sausage (breakfast & other) is not GF, & I'm not sure what else is listed as GF but really isn't. The chef checked & said the different sausages have wheat in them (they're locally/NC made specially for the restaurant). The "OBX Steamer Pot" has sausage in it (& says GF on the menu). They were really good to me & offered to make mine in fresh water instead of the shared water they use to make all their other steamer pots. This way I didn't have to worry about any contamination from the sausage. We will be back, but be sure to ask lots of questions before you trust the menu.
The waitress told us the chef has a family member with severe celiac, and so everything is dedicated for those needing gf. I had the crab cake sandwich and fries without the bun (gf buns were available for an extra fee). It was the best crab cake I've ever eaten! The place is quaint, with indoor/ outdoor seating available.

During a busy, rainy day in the off season, we were waited on by the manager! She was so nice, knowledgable and told us how the gluten free menu items are prepared! The gluten free buns we delicious and did not fall apart! The menu is broken down by times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A few things from the dinner menu is available for lunch, which is awesome! Most lunch sandwiches can be put on a gluten free bun. I highly recommend the crab cake bites! They are amazing!

The lunch menu doesn't show much GF, but they can make anything GF. The fries are made in a dedicated frier. Very good food.
Had breakfast here multiple times! Loved the gf crab cake breakfast sandwich on a gf bun! You can even order ahead, and get your breakfast to go...like my extended family did on their way out of town. Very friendly staff eager to please. So nice to get a chance to have some food that we rarely get to have in the GF world!
This place is amazing!!! Our food was awesome; had the crab cakes which were full of real crab meat and full of flavor. The fries and slaw were good too. Best part was they had a gluten free chocolate cake for dessert! Everything about this place was fantastic. Great service, friendly and knowledgeable waitress, quick service, and I didn't get sick! Highly recommend stopping here. The waitress said the owner has Celiac and has trained his staff in cross contamination and how to be careful. Loved it!!
Love that they are celiac friendly! Potato skins were great, but I cannot recommend the chicken Marsala. It tasted like eating something charred even though it was not burnt. The explanation was that they cook the chicken on a grill. Unfortunately, it must pick up a very pungent char flavor. But if go back and try something else. Very friendly staff.
Great place. Crab cakes and fries are GF. Made in a dedicated fryer. I verified (and it states on the menu) that they use almond and rice flour for the crab cakes. They offer a GF roll for sandwiches. My celiac 9 year old loved his meal, so we will be back. The rest of us (non-GF) enjoyed our meals as well. Fish tacos and pulled pork.
they had a lot of gf offerings and said they had a separate fryer. I ordered the crabcakes, fries, and had potatoes skins and mussels for app. wait staff was knowledgeable and helpful.
I got the special mahi mahi with rice and veggies. Lots of options to choose from. We also got a steam pot to go one night and I didn't have any issues.
Amazing food - the seafood is really the star - mini crabcakes (in a dedicated fryer) and seared scallops in lobster sauce - unreal! I'm Celiac, so I was in heaven. So many gluten-free items on the menu - the chef/owner takes it very seriously, and the entire staff is trained in safe allergen-friendly food handling. Highly, highly recommend. Even if you have to wait for a table, you can hang out in the Tap Shack behind the restaurant - kid-and-dog friendly, too!
The owner's mother has celiac disease and so the chef is well aware of the needs of gluten free diners. My daughter and husband had crab cakes and fries for the first time; dedicated fryer and the crab cakes are made with non-gluten containing ingredients. I had scallops in lobster sauce that were delicious and GF. Highly recommended!
Excellent place to eat. The owner has family members with Celiac disease, so he is very careful. Separate prep area for GF foods, including a separate fryer. French fries are awesome! My daughter with a severe gluten allergy ate there with no negative consequences. We will be returning!
Ate lunch here. Dedicated fryer for French fries and GF crab cakes - which were to die for. Just being able to have French fries as a celiac is A-mazing. Definitely more GF options for dinner. Steamer baskets are available for lunch and sandwiches can be made on GF rolls as well as salads. Owner has a family member with Celiac. Very sensitive Celiac daughter had no reaction to her snow crab legs and fries. We will definitely be back for dinner
I love this restaurant! I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease and I've been coming to the OBX my whole life, so we've been having to find new restaurants to go to while we're here to get food I can eat. So we ended up here for lunch, and I love it!! The staff was so friendly, almost everything could be made GF (or was already GF) and the gluten free sandwich rolls were honestly better than most regular sandwich rolls! AND apparently they're even working on making gluten free canolli soon, which will be awesome!

This place is fantastic. Scott (the owner whose mom has celiacs) took tons of time sharing his efforts to make sure the celiacs of the world have a safe, enjoyable and delicious experience. I am so thankful for him! We had sandwiches and fries (separate fryer). It was delicious. Next time we'll will try the crab cake. After being cross contaminated at many restaurants, is my new favorite place! They really take it seriously!
