Coimbra Restaurant

Coimbra is a fantastic authentic Portuguese restaurant in Newark. No dedicated gluten free menu but authentic Portuguese food so most items are naturally gluten free. In addition, I simply asked what ingredients were used in a dish and they explained the ingredients used and I was able to determine that I could eat there.

I am celiac’s and had no issue. It is not confirmed, but there does not appear to be a dedicated gluten free fryer, grill, or anything. Just simple authentic food made the right way limits cross-contamination.

Ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce appetizer, skirt steak with a sunny side up egg, rice, and French fries. Amazing. The shrimp in garlic sauce was unbelievably good!

Also, parking in Newark can be difficult but they have a dedicated parking lot close by across the street
