Got a savory and a sweet crepe. They are a different color from the regular crepe batch, so you know you are getting the right stuff. I had no reaction to them making on the same griddle but I generally can handle that level of cross contamination. They were definitely better than the ones I made at home a few weeks ago.
The buckwheat crepe was very good. I got a spinach, mushroom and cheese. I wanted a sweet but decided on savory. Slightly healthier. I had no reaction. They did tell me that they do t have a separate griddle for gluten free and that cross contamination could happen. They were as careful as they could and cleaned it off.
Thier gluten free crepes are made of buckwheat, which means that they are gluten free and they do preface that there may be cross contamination, which I appreciate, so if your very sensitive to gluten this is not exactly the place I'd recommend, but if you're ok with that, I would definitely recommend it here, the food is very tasty
I would give this place zero stars if I could. Go ahead and get a gluten free crepe at this establishment if you want bland brown mush. Yes the gf crepes here are brown. I was starving and I couldn’t finish it. I almost threw up and i’m not even being dramatic i am not dramatic. Plus I found a piece of lettuce in mine. So unsatisfactory I don’t care if it’s the wrong word.I am baffled they are allowed to even sell that garbage for $1.50 extra! They should call themselves crap de france. DO NOT GO HERE
They are located in Pike Place Market. They have a buckwheat crepe. It didn’t look as soft as the regular crepe, but was still delicious. LOTS of options. There is cross-contamination/shared griddles so don’t go if you have that level of sensitivity. I had the crepe aux fraises (crepe with strawberries) & it was so good! You could easily split one between two people.
They’re upfront that there’s complete cross contamination. Same griddle used for GF and non-GF crepes. They charge extra for GF batter. Very noisy. Out of a number of drinks.
While they said they did had cross contamination, they took measures for safety; stopped the line, took the time to sanitize a griddle and Cook did a glove change. Thankfully I ordered a sweet fruit crepe, so not much cross contamination with sliced strawberries and whipped cream. Not sure I would label it friendly. Not sure I wouldn't either due to the measures they went through (in the middle of the day with a line pout of the door).... I did not get sick either. I also liked open kitchen so you can watch what they are doing versus just taking their word on it.
I attempted to eat here, but was disappointed after waiting in line for 10+ minutes to find out that they were out of their gluten free ingredients.
My friend tells me that the food is delicious, however I give it a 1 star because they never ever have gluten free available. I've gone there 5 times at various times to be told "we're out".
If you're hungry, don't count on this restaurant!
Amazing!!! I go at least once a month and not once have I ever gotten sick..
I had a savory crepe for lunch, and it was delicious. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because the veggies weren't chopped up, making it difficult to chew like a lady, lol. I love fresh tomatoes and green onions but who wants to eat them in a crepe in 2" (tomato) and 1" (green onion) pieces? They used a different hot plate for mine than my Bf who got a regular crepe.
Not safe for celiacs, common cook surfaces, and staff (when I was there) weren't knowledgeable beyond the fact that they offered GF crepes. The crepes themselves were buckwheat and definitely not worth it unless you're having some crepe craving nothing else will fill...even then, be careful if you have celiac.
We tried to visit this restaurant as soon as they opened. After waiting in a slow line, I was told they didn't have GF crepe mix ready and were too busy to mix it.
