NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY. Tried to go today and notified the person taking my order that I have a severe gluten allergy. She laughed and said she didn't know what that was. Then when I explained and asked her to convey that to the chef, she told me that wasn't possible. I left without eating. Celiacs disease (and gluten sensitivity) aren't a joke.
The owner's daughter has an allergy, someone told me, which must explain why their muffins are heaven!!!! (Much better than the popular bakery Arizmundi) Any sandwich can be made GF and even pancakes! Selection doesn't change much but it's always reliable and the people are super nice :)
I got the gf buttermilk pancakes here and loved it even though the middle was slightly undercooked but still was so good for some reason. Maybe it's been a long time since I've had huge gf anything. Yes, I could barely finish the one pancake. I ordered also potatoes (so good) and the chicken apple sausage (also so good) which I'm not sure is gf or not. I'm intolerant so I take risks sometimes! Cute casual atmosphere.
GF pancakes and crepes available. Fresh made GF muffins daily! Huge salads also suitable for GF eaters. Great service, huge portions. We eat here at least once every 1-2 weeks. I have celiac and have never had a reaction. Rumor has it the owner's daughter has celiac.
I think they've been pretty honest in saying they cook their GF crepes in same part of grill as regular crepes. They say they will clean that part of the grill for you, but it hasn't been enough for me to avoid being affected. I haven't had any problems with their non crepe items. (E.g. potatoes, eggs)
I wouldn’t go here if you have CC issues. They use the same surface to cook all crepes. Yikes!
Ordered a salad and explicitly stated and stressed our gluten allergy. The server stated that we shouldn’t worry, but I ended up getting sick soon after. I’ve had good luck at other crepevines, but won’t be returning to this location.
OMG gluten free pancakes tastes the same. 100% pure maple syrup
They are very quick to tell you they are not celiac friendly and can't control for cross contamination. They have no interest in trying to do better, despite advertising GF crepes. Another place that caters only to the voluntary GF crowd...
Can't believe how good the gf pancakes were. I had to double check with our server that they didn't mess up the order. 3 people in our party are gluten sensitive (no celiacs) and none of us had any reaction. The 4th person said "these are better than most regular pancakes!"
Fluffy yummy gluten free pancakes, gluten free crepes and salmon Benedict that could be made with gluten free toast! Delicious breakfast, organic, local ingredients and friendly attentive servers. Cafeteria style order before you sit (menus on the wall or at the front), a nice patio with plants outside. A delightful breakfast place and one of the only places open at 8am (usually 7-11) as many restaurants open at 10:30/11 in the area.
Lots of choices. Very delicious and plentiful portions. Everything looks fresh!
We found this on the Find Me GF app while vacationing. We ordered GF pancakes, GF crepes and an omelet! By far the best GF breakfast that I have had in 5 years of being a celiac. The food quality and service could not have been better! Wish we could give it more than 5 stars and we are pretty "picky"!
Absolutely incredible food! By far one of our best finds in Willow Glen thus far. We careful if you're planning to order via delivery services as you have to get the one dollar charge for gluten-free crepes on your itemized receipt and bill. We ordered from DoorDash and had to call DoorDash after we place the order today for the job and add the one dollar gluten-free charge. Once we did that, absolutely no problems!
I cannot recommend Crepevine. I had to bail on my meal here after a series of mistakes by the kitchen that would have made me ill. Fortunately, the management provided me with a refund and I was able to eat safely somewhere else. I was excited to try one of their gluten-free crepes, and I made sure to order my crepe with a side of potatoes, not fries, given that the fries are definitely cross-contaminated. It was the lunch rush, so I had to wait quite a while for my crepe, at least 15 minutes. When a server arrived with my meal, I asked if the crepe was gluten free. She said that she did not know and would check, walking off with the plate. I waited at least another 10 minutes without anyone coming by my table. When a different server finally arrived with the correct crepe, it was now accompanied by fries. I gave up and asked for a refund. I appreciate their effort, but it seems that they have a long-way to go with educating staff about safe food handling for people with allergies.
It said on here this place was celiac friendly but as soon as I asked what their gf items were they said they don't have a kitchen safe for celiacs and the lady I talked to said they can't control for cross-contamination. Needless to say no one was very helpful and I only stayed since I was with other people. I ordered the gluten free California crepe and a gluten free pancake. I got so sick about 20 minutes after we left and my non-celiac friend did too.
I've been coming here for GF crepes for a while now, but today I noticed they added GF pancakes to their menu! They are delicious. Honestly I am waiting for my stomach to tell me they weren't GF, they tasted perfect.
The pancakes tasted like bad gluten free pancakes. The GF triberry crepe was delicious. BUT something there made me sick. I had water to drink.
I ordered a gluten free crepe and when I started eating it I noticed that I was given the wrong item and that it was not gluten free. They were willing to make me a new one, but by that point I was too nervous to eat anything else from here. If you eat here you are running the risk of getting very sick.
my son and I both have celiac. we had a wonderful breakfast the portions were huge and food was wonderful. we each had an omelet with potatoes and gluten free pancakes. we loved every fresh tasting bite! service was good but simple. you order at the counter and sit. they bring out your food. it was pricey but worth it!!
This place claims to be gluten free.... and technically they are, but they tell you up front that they will NOT guarantee that its CC free. If you have celiac disease, you are taking your chances. I have, regretfully gotten sick here. The pancakes were really not worth the risk. They were too dry. The stars are for the excellent service however. They are genuinely friendly.
Although they don't have a gluten free kitchen I have not had a problem. (I am only gluten intolerant.) They were more than willing to help me find dairy free items or check with the chef. Staff goes above and beyond to help. 😄
Excellent sweet and savory crepes!
Gluten free crepes and pancakes (yay!), but there is no dedicated GF kitchen space/toaster/grill area. Not an issue for the gluten intolerant, but something to be aware of if you have Celiac Disease. Juices were refreshing and perfect with the scrambled eggs & potatoes.
