Unfortunately I had quite a bad experience here.
I hadn’t been before but was pleased to see it was part of the Marston’s chain, which I’ve previously found pretty good.
I asked for a GF menu which prompts you to check if they have a dedicated fryer, as not all locations do. I asked the waitress who checked with the kitchen and confirmed they had a GF fryer.
I asked the waitress to check if the tomato juice was suitable for me. She read through the ingredients and said it looked fine to her and then gave it me to check. It had barley in it, highlighted in bold.
I ordered my food (houmous and GF bread) and a bowl of chips. When my meal came out it came with flat bread, which I wasn’t expecting. The lady who brought my food out couldn’t tell me if it was GF or not. I then asked the waitress who took my order who said ‘that’s just how it comes’. When I reminded her that I’d ordered from the GF menu she realised she hadn’t specified GF on her kitchen order which resulted in me being given the regular gluten filled version.
I was very lucky that I was suspicious and asked questions. She clearly had little to no clue about food safety/allergies/intolerances.

Amazing. I was asked if I had an allergy, he cleaned my table, the salt and pepper, changed my cutlery. The menu had a great selection of foods, I had the kebab which was tasty. The food was bought out separately to everyone else’s as they are not allowed to bring out allergy foods with non allergy. I felt completely safe.
