Before visiting, I called the restaurant. They said that they have gf items on their menu and can take precautions, chips not safe to eat, and the kitchen is small so there is a slight risk of cross contamination. At the restaurant, I asked the waitress if there was a gluten free menu and she said the gf items are marked on the menu. There is no gluten free food marked on the menu except for designating 2 GF salsas. The waitress said the chips are gf. I asked the waitress about gf items since I couldn’t find any on the menu. She said I could just choose something, but the fryer is not a dedicated fryer. (So we made an inference from this that the chips she said were safe in fact are not.) I asked if the chicken enchiladas were gf and was assured they were. A while after placing my order, the waitress came back and said the enchiladas are fried in their fryer. I asked her if she could tell me any gluten free items on the menu. She said they could make the enchiladas with no corn tortilla and put the ingredients over rice. The food was not good. Many pieces of the chicken were undercooked. My food was not completely gf because I had a reaction after eating there. No one in our group liked their food. After taking precautions to contact this restaurant prior to our visit, it was disappointing that they really don’t have gluten free food. The waitress was not knowledgeable or helpful.
This is a hidden gem! A gluten free fryer, knowledgeable and welcoming staff. The food was so delicious. I had nachos and my husband had huevos rancheros, both being gluten free. Kitchen took all the precautions to make sure we were safe and I didn't have anxiety or get sick. I can't wait to go back!
