We accidentally went to their food cart instead of the sit down. That meant the veg options were limited plus they were sold out of one of their veg options. I got the small container with two veg options. The food was very flavorful and I think it was $5. However, the texture for both veg were very similar. Again, it tastes good but I felt like I was having a grownup bowl of baby food. If you don't eat meat, find their brick and mortar or another place unless you are on the run and need to quickly pick up something and don't mind everything being in a mashed state.
Bacon wrapped dates!
Celiac safe but the food wasn't all that great.
My husband, 4 year old and myself all loved our meals. They had great flavor. It is wonderful to have a safe gluten and dairy free place for my us to eat.
Food Stand with not much place nearby to sit. However, they are100% paleo friendly, reasonably priced, and the gal running it on Sunday was friendly and helpful. Food was toasty enough and safe for Gluten Sensitive eaters. Also feature Tao of Tea and Lion Heart Kombucha.
Blah. Salt might help.
Warm comfort food for a chilly day. It was delicious!
Delicious and on hand for when you're on the go.
Really, really good. Feels good in the body too.
I liked it and definitely Celiac friendly.
A tad on the spendy side, this is a paleo food cart. That means their entire menu is gluten/grain/soy-free. Amazingly delicious, and always a safe bet for lunch!
Traveling to Portland, OR for 4 days and now i never want to leave now that I found the Cultured Caveman! My friend and I had dinner there last night and all we both can say is WOW. we could not stop eating/tasting and enjoying the great food! I had the chili and she the curry.... both delicious. and the sides! Don't miss the almond/date bacon wrapped delight that is one of your potential sides... today we're going in for the carnitas for sure... that LOOKED amazing. The bone broth was really good (and a lot easier than making it which i usually do 24x7... however get this, they publish recipes for a lot of their food, including the broth on their website. On the walls of the place, they have pictures of the recipes to make ketchup, all kinds of sauces, their bone broth, and more. Pass the word... it's truly a great find. We will spend the next 3 days eating there only... why try to find something better, when great food, good prices, AND no gluten, grains, sugar, dairy can be found??? OH and by the way, their guacamole replacement for sour cream...... OUTTA THIS WORLLLLLLD smiles to all, and enjoy!!! Laura
EVERYTHING they had was gluten/dairy/soy free!!! A very casual restaurant. They had a seating area with couches and an area for children that had a chalkboard and books and such. Their food was delicious and filling, so I'd say the price was great! Just the same as any sit-down restaurant. Their deserts were good too but I had to get mine Togo because I was so full :)
Located in the historic Kenton neighborhood, you can order anything on the menu and stick to your gluten free food plan! Absolutely amazing mushroom soup. Familiar dishes, prepared according to the paleo diet plan, always grain free. Zucchini noodles and meatballs were delicious.
Emailed the owner and three of the people that eat here have Celiac's disease and everything is gluten free. My boyfriend is super sensitive to cross contamination and he's eaten here several times with no issues at all. Owner says the spices are gluten free and produce is thoroughly washed. Awesome place!
These guys are such a blessing for our Celiac family. The owners are usually working in the business and they are 100% committed to delivering the goods. The entire staff (but especially Kevin, Starling, Heather and Joe) are super knowledgeable and friendly. The joint is super kid friendly, too. They have a play area with lots of dinosaurs. DINOSAURS, people! Not just gluten, soy and dairy free. They understand ALL food allergies, and will accommodate you without judgment. The food is tasty. Go there and eat. Have fun. Bring a the family. Pretend you are just a regular person heading out to dinner for once. You don't have to worry about getting sick! Don't you deserve it?
I had "Zoodles and Meatballs" (zucchini noodles). I really wasn't impressed with this meal. The noodles were tiny strings of zucchini and very tomato-y. There were far more tomatoes than zucchini. I expected thicker noodles. I also had the dates and almonds wrapped in bacon and they were amazing. The staff was very nice and I like the idea behind the restaurant...I just really didn't like what I had.
"We serve: grass-fed beef chili, local chicken, seasonal salads. All items are 100% gluten, dairy, and soy-free. Food for the caveman in all of us."
