Only marked GF options are salads and sides. Luckily, the other reviewers here mentioned the Reuben can be made with GF bread. Ordered the Reuben with a side salad — it was huge and tasted great! Not sure about any other non-salad options though. Waitress wasn’t too helpful either. No symptoms after.
Came back after the owner messaged me and we had a great experience. Our waiter was great and very knowledgeable. Their celiac options were really good and even have a dedicated fryer for their shoestring fries. If you have a problem with your gluten free order just ask for another waiter.
Was visiting family and had eaten at D4 many times years ago before going GF. After reading these reviews, I expected a menu where the GF items or options were marked and waitstaff that was knowledgeable. The menu wasn't marked at all. The waitstaff assured me that they would "check" with the chef to make sure the meals I'd chosen were safe. I had a veggie burger on GF bread one night, with fries. I didn't feel well the next morning but wasn't sure it was that meal. However, we went back to D4 two days later for brunch. I was assured the hollandaise sauce was fine and the bread was GF. I was violently ill 30 minutes later.
My brother thought the menu had recently changed. Between a lack of marked GF choices and staff that clearly don't understand what gluten is, I will never eat here again when visiting Chicago.
Excellent food and service. Much nicer and more elegant interior than your average "pub". GF items marked on the menu. Had kale and grapefruit salad and short rib nachos. Tuesday is taco night with $4 tacos in corn tortillas that are very substantial, two is enough, if you have a salad first. I don't know if the corn tortillas are certified, didn't ask, my spouse had them.
Great service, amazing food, good selection and variety of Gluten Free items. Very impressed.
Lots of GF options marked on the menu. Even though Rueben sandwich was not marked as GF, they used GF bread and it was amazing. It came with fries and my daughter ate the whole meal. Delicious!
I was excited to try this after reading the reviews. The waiter was great and seemed knowledgable, but my delicious gluten free chicken salad was sadly not gluten free.
Loved the quinoa salad, and they brought out GF bread to have with the meal. The waitress checked on everything that she was not sure about. Great atmosphere.
GF options on the menu well marked but ask questions. My bartender and server was really helpful. He found out there is a dedicated fryer for GF food but it is right next to the others so cross contamination is theoretically possible. The half chicken was superb as was the Mexican corn. Also had 7 types of hard cider. Wonderful experience !
Gf items marked on menus. I had the quinoa salad, and added grilled shrimp. Amazing! After making some poor choices at lunch today, I had to be cautious. (Side Note: shake shack is not too allergy friendly!). Our waiter was courteous and knowledgeable and had no problem making a special note for no soy on my order. Everyone in our group had an awesome meal allergies or not. My daughter is very picky and she loved her mountain sized portion of chicken tenders - though she couldn't finish them. It would be enough for two smaller kids to share for sure. Great atmosphere was a bonus on this humid dreary day! Very reasonable prices. Ace Pear cider was great, also.
