Review of Dakshin Indian Bistro Hamilton

My wife has Celiac Disease and we dined here once or twice when she was first diagnosed. She potentially had a reaction but we're unsure if it was spiciness or gluten. The server at that time was helpful and reassuring and seemed familiar with what elements would contain gluten and we needed to basically avoid the naan. We risked going back today, 8 months later, and when asking the server about protections against gluten and that she had celiac disease, we were met with blank stares and no comprehension of what any of that meant. We provided an example stating that naan would have gluten as it is made from flour and we were informed of the ingredients of the naan (including flour). The server offered to ask the kitchen and did so. The follow-up was a restatement of the ingredients in naan and some more confusion over what information we were trying to get. We politely left. They are nice and have delicious food but we are not confident in protections against cross-contamination.

We believe there are many gluten free items on the menu but there is no identification of these and the server we had was unable to provide any information about gluten content of any items nor protections against cross-contamination in the kitchen.
