We’ve been here before in the past, but this was the first time since developing my non celiac gluten sensitivity as part of my autoimmune disease.
We went for my brother in laws birthday dinner and I was skeptical at first due to the reviews here.
We went in an I order a 2 meat plate - pulled rib meat and brisket with sides of slaw and Billy Goat Chips since I know those are prepackaged.
We also wanted to share the BBQ Nachos but had no idea if they were GF and there is nothing listed on their menu in store or online regarding any food allergies or sensitivities. The chaser taking our order had a pamphlet and looked it up and sure enough it was GF. Cool, so we ordered that too.
This is where it gets bad:
Food company out quick. My BIL got the pulled rib plate (no other meat) and his came out with 2 slices of diagonally cut white Texas toast thick white bread touching his meat. That was NOT listed in the menu. I start to get nervous. My plate is the last to come out. My 2 meats are piled high on a huge hoagie. Again, this was NOT specified in any menu. I tell the server that I’m GF and cannot eat this, and there was no mention of it on their menu. She apologized and took it back to make a new plate. I can only hope they didn’t just scrape the meat off and reserve it.
The brisket was good, not the best I’ve had though. The pull rib meat was also decent but it was slathered in sauce, again that wasn’t mentioned at all on the menu. I’ve heard some of their sauces are not GF so I got super nervous about that too.
It’s been 12 hrs and no reaction thankfully. I’d be limping and no excruciating pain by now if I did.
Overall the food was decent, not as good as I remember, but the GF safety was barely present. Make sure you ask the cashier and specify no bread when ordering.

We called & then asked again all the right questions. Unfortunately 4 days later & I’m still sick. I had pulled pork with sweet & Smokey BBQ sauce on the side w/baked beans. I spoke with/manager today & it appears there maybe need some more research on their part with new manufacturing of their food. I’m 100% sure I was glutened even though I was told it was safe. The manager remembered me & said everyone changed gloves, etc.

Don’t get me wrong- the food here is AMAZING! The people are friendly and helpful- love the establishment for normies. As far as GF safety though, there is a false sense of of it. They will tell you most of the meats and sides (with obvious exceptions) are GF. All sauces except Voodoo are GF. BUT, there must be hella cross contamination. I’m very sensitive and every single time I have eaten here (a good half dozen times), I have had a reaction. I have had the potato salad (typical safe choice), brisket, turkey, and their original sauce in very small amounts. Even without sauce, there has always been a reaction. I do NOT recommend for celiacs. If you’re super sensitive and want to live with the cross contamination consequences, that’s up to you.
I will say- in the same plaza you have The Corner Pub (bar & grill), The Shack (brunch), and The Tavern (seafood/steakhouse)- all are owned by the same family whose daughter is celiac and those restaurants DO have GF menus and other special menus, dedicated prep areas and fryers, and knowledgeable staff.

No GF menu, but staff seemed knowledgeable about which meats, sides and sauces were GF. All meats except burnt ends were GF. Sides without an obvious flour coating were GF. Most sauces were GF. Not sure about dedicated fryer or cooking surfaces, but I found the staff eager to answer questions.
