Dave's Fish & Chips

We were glutened at this restaurant. The server assured us that fish and yam fries had a dedicated gluten free fryer, yet we got so sick. I called and the manager apologized, but said they were busy and accidents happen. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone with celiac disease, as it is not safe.

Awful. Child throwing up and miserable. Researched this website, called ahead, was clear with waiter. Strongly suggest NOT safe for celiacs.

Celiac approved. Dedicated deep fryer for fish (cod or halibut) and yam fries. Regular fries are not GF. Special hidden gem in Richmond!

My kid came from Montréal & first thing she wanted was Dave's F&C in GF batter. Server was knowledgeable with Gluten sensitivity/ celiac and asked if cross contamination would be dangerous. Kid stated it wouldn't be "dangerous " but she could get sick tho. Server stated that cook would cook the cod and fries in separate fryer and all. Delicious light crispy batter. Excellent food. No symptoms of gluten ingestion.

I was able to have sweet potato fries and halibut from a separate fryer for gluten free. I was craving fish and chips! They don’t have a GF menu but the server was very knowledgeable and told me what was safe for a Celiac.

We came in from out of town and pleasantly surprised to see how many options for Gluten Free Fish & Chips. We picked Dave’s and thrilled to meet Kelsey, the server who is gluten free. The Halibut Fish and (sweet potato) Chips, Manhattan Calm Chowder, Coleslaw.

They use a dedicated fryer. Great fish & chips. Hits the spot. Way better than Jan’s in white rock.

I called ahead of time and also double checked when I got to the restaurant. They have a dedicated Gluten Free fryer and will make your fish with just a nice coating of rice flour.

The regular fries are braised in the same fryer as breaded products, but their sweet potato fries were safe as well as the tartar sauce and chipotle mayo.

I enjoyed a full fish and chips meal and my experience with the staff was that not only were they aware of Celiac disease and how careful things needed to be, but if they were unsure of anything they doubled checked and informed me.

I had a toddler with me as well (who doesn’t need gluten free) and they were really great with her as well so I would recommend this restaurant for families with kids too.
