Extremely aware of cross contamination and a ton of gluten free options.
Went to the Waterworks location, food was very tasty and the staff were very kind and educated about celiac and cross contamination.
Amazing GF Reuben & latkes!
The reviews did not disappoint. Not only was the food absolutely incredible (had a smoked meat Reuben and my goodness it was one of the best I’ve ever had). But the service was so so good. They were upfront about their protocols, there was a great sign on the counter saying what was available gf, and the staff was so knowledgeable. The server mentioned the owners daughter has celiac, and they are all so aware and careful. It was so greatly appreciated. No dedicated fryer, but the gf latkes are shallow fried in a pan, not the fryer, making them safe. Highly recommend.

Stopped by Dave’s after reading that the owner has a daughter who has celiac disease and that they take cross-contact seriously. I was impressed by the number of gf options and will definitely be back again. I ordered a gf smoked meat sandwich which was absolutely delectable and some latkes to take home.
Food is delicious! They have all their gluten free options posted in store and on the online menu. They did let me know that the fries are not in a dedicated fryer and noted my other food allergies.
Excellent experience at Dave’s Genuine Deli! I spoke with Dave’s daughter who also has celiac and they totally get it! I ordered the genuine breakfast that comes with a delicious potato latkas and schaar bread - that is toasted in the oven and buttered with butter that has no cross contamination. My husband (non celiac) had the smoked meat sandwich and was impressed. Lots of GF options - though the fries are done in a shared fryer. However, they are opening a second location at Waterworks Food Hall on Richmond Street and that location will have a separate fryer. Highly recommend!
This place is a gem (that I wish I knew about 4 years earlier 😅). So many fantastic GF options and the smoked meat sandwich was better than any I’ve ever had, even before my diagnosis! Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable and the owners daughter is also Celiac. 10 out of 5 stars!
We had an amazing lunch at Dave’s - so nice to finally find a celiac-safe deli! There are a ton of gluten free options, including most meats, latkes, salads, soup, and more. We had smoked meat sandwiches, latkes, and rice pudding. Everything was delicious! Definitely got a thumbs-up from my Montreal-born partner!
Dave himself is so nice - we chatted for a bit about celiac and food safety. His daughter has celiac, so he gets it. He also used to teach food safety and inspection, and really prioritizes safety.
They also do catering, and have special menus for the Jewish holidays that include tons of gf items. I can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely loved it! The 6 of us enjoyed a very late lunch - 3 of us are celiac. We are visiting from the US. Great for a casual deli meal…met the owner, his daughter is celiac. Enjoyed the Reuben (amazing!) & the beef dip & my non celiac kids had the Bubbies big bowl & fries. All of us loved the coleslaw, pickle & potato salad. We loved the gf latkes. Definitely try this place!!!!…again, the corned beef on gf bread with mustard is AMAZING! Website has list of gf items.
So many great gluten free options. We loved everything we tried - deli, latkes, pea soup and more. The rice pudding for dessert was so good. Owner’s daughter has celiac and he and his staff are well versed in cross contamination and took all the proper protocols to ensure our food was safe.
Went to Dave's with extended family and everything was marvelous! My sister, my niece and myself are all celiac, we all had many options to choose from and thoroughly enjoyed our meals! I had called ahead and was pleased to hear they had many options and were very knowledgeable about cross contamination. I had the eggs benny on GF toast, it was divine. The latkes are gluten free!!! (not made in the fryer) and are DELICIOUS! We were a table of 9 and the service was so fabulous and attentive and everyone, including us three celiacs, enjoyed their meals very much! So excited to have a real deli option in Toronto!
