This is a cute little spot in the historic downtown area with a very creative menu and lots of gluten-free and vegan options. We felt like some tapas so we ordered the rice balls with cheese and chicken on a bed of molé, the Avocado Rellenos with citrus marinated shrimp and sweet and savory plantains with balsamic infused hibiscus flowers. Everything was delicious! They also have some delicious looking entrées, corn Arepas stuffed with delicious fillings and bowls to choose from. And nothing bothered me at all.
De La Vega was delicious!! The menu had so many gluten free options and vegan options. My boyfriend and I both had the hibiscus tacos. They even had vegan cheese! For sides we got plantains and Yuka fries. The cup of guacamole was very good. We highly recommend!
Everything was delicious! Menu was marked with gluten free items
I have visited De La Vega several times, and been mostly disappointed. The main dish is never wonderful, but I also never get sick. However, the green salsa is great! I also loved their sweet plantains in chocolate sauce, but they discontinued that. It’s too expensive and far too loud inside and out to be worth it for me. However, I appreciate the allergen effort.
Not only does de la Vega have a menu to die for, they are also generous to the community, participating in and catering local governmental and community events. The restaurant offers many gluten-free selections. One of the best dishes I've tried there is the plain takin soup. Forget ordering just a cup of it: the bowl-size is adequate but if I could order it by the carafe I'd be in heaven. The service is delightful as well.
When I first walked in the restaurant it was a mixture of familiarity with a little bit of elegance. I am both vegan and gluten free (allergy not preference). I had multiple options not just 1 or 2 to choose from which is typical in most restaurants. I had the tortilla soup then a plantain dish. Both were delicious. I cannot wait to come back!
Delicious food and friendly service! Great gluten free options built into the menu, ask veg and vegan. I had the hibiscus tacos and they were absolutely amazing!
I am gluten free, with celiac disease. The food was amazing with a gluten free and vegan menu. No problems at all.
Awesome food and over half of the menu is gluten free. We just ordered a bunch of tapas to share. All gluten free and delicious.
