DO NOT go yo Bucktown location if celiac. Waitress said had dedicated fryer and even had gluten free menu. Now incredible sick. Maybe the boiled/grilled stuff might be better but pass on this place and head somewhere else for fried seafood.

The staff was very knowledgeable and they even had a dedicated gluten free menu! They also had lots of fried seafood options that were gf as they used cornmeal breading! Great experience!

Symptomatic Celiac

I loved it here. I arrived hungry and was delighted to enjoy the bowl of boiled potatoes that was delivered to my table while I waited. While the fried foods are off limits if you’re celiac, there are plenty of other choices. I ordered the barbecued oysters with no bread and had 2 broiled soft shell crabs as my entree. My lunch was delicious, and I had no ill effects. I can’t wait to return.

Staff insisted menu was gluten free, I reminded them poboys weren’t. Staff mentioned that the soft shell crabs were coated in flour & fried in same oil as everything else. If this is true, then there is a risk of cross-contamination. In addition to the confusion over what was or was not gluten free, I was served over-boiled shrimp that were tough and two were absolutely rotten. I’ve eaten at the one in the French Quarter before I was aware of my gluten sensitivity and enjoyed it, the low score is purely because of the staff confusion, the rotten shrimp I was served, and the GI symptoms I’m currently experiencing 5 hours after eating there. 😢

I was told that all deep fried food is GF as they use yellow corn flour. No separate friers that I know of. I am Gluten sensitive. The fried shrimp was very good since the shrimp was fresh and the batter light. No reaction. Also, the serve spicy boiled potatoes instead of bread. Pretty good.

According to the manager, they use shared fryers with gluten containing items. Cross contamination is an issue- not Celiac safe

Excellent fresh and fried seafood. They use a cornmeal batter, so there are many options available from appetizers to entrees. Generous portions. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
