I was four times in a Denny‘s restaurant on my roadtrip in west USA and I got sick two times after I ate there. The only thing that is really GF are the 3 types of „Sizzlin Skillet“. The fries are marked GF but are not or not always. Once I had a Caesar salad and they brougt it with croutons. On the menu the salad is marked GF! I also mentiond that I am celiac and after I told the stuff about the croutons they just pickt them away and returnd me the salad, cause it came back after less than one minute.
Great for gluten free breakfast which they all day long. Many Denny's are open 24/7 and are located near major highways. We have eaten at Denny's in many states and never had a problem. Should be added nation wide.
That was the most insane experience. We only forced ourselves to stay because of the gluten free menu. First, nobody would acknowledge us when we walked in, and kept walking by. Finally we sat. Not crowded, and over an hour to get food. First, they brought my son’s side of apples 20 minutes before everyone else’s food came. Then, the orders were wrong. Cheese in eggs (that was not ordered), a missing sandwich and toast took another 15 minutes. Then, they brought out the eggs correctly, with onions missing in the hash browns. Just couldn’t get it together. Finally, my mom spilled a drink at the table, and they didn’t clean it up. Came and looked, left us nothing to clean it up when we asked for napkins, picked up a few plates, and left us to finish our meal with drink spilled all over the table. We saw 2 other tables disputing an incorrect bill. Worried I will get sick. Stay away.
Horrible. Staff was only aware of what was GF based on the menu. My wife ordered a Cobb Salad, listed as GF. It came out with some sort of crouton substitute that was deep fried potato strips. Of course, we’re now skeptical of the frier and whether or not it’s dedicated - still don’t know. Sent salad back, waitress indicated she would get it remade - it wasn’t, they moved the fried potato and sent it back out. We were sitting by the kitchen.......it wasn’t remade. A verbal spat between the kitchen and waitress ensued; needless to say my wife didn’t feel comfortable eating and we cancelled our order. The Manager came by, gave a half efforted sorry.
Had options on the menu, staff knowledgeable, no issues after eating.

They have items marked on the menu as gluten free, with an English muffin being a big breakfast draw. However, they do NOT / NOT use a separate toaster. I asked the server multiple times and even the manager and they said it is the same toaster and they just throw it in the slot where all the regular breads and English muffins go. Eggs, meats and hash browns are prepared on a separate grill from where pancakes are made.

I had scrambled eggs, a ham slice, and hash browns, all of which marked as GF and which the server said are prepared on a different grill from where the pancakes are made. The ham was a bit tough, the hash browns quite dry and tasteless until I added salt and pepper; nothing to make me want to go back.
Three (yes three) different cups of coffee came with 1-2 little gnats floating on top - the kind of gnats that often are found in houseplants, yet there were no live plants in the restaurant. They did comp the coffee, but it really made me wonder what might be running around in the kitchen.
I was very pleased to find the menu had gluten free beside each item that was gluten free. And I was shocked to find that they serve gluten free English muffins! Our server was fantastic and was very accommodating.
We went to the hotel next door for vacation (comfort inn which btw is now celiac friendly at all) and ended up eating there several times in that week.. my wife who is celiac had no issues at all. They have english muffins that can use for buns for the burgers. The menu is marked what is GF too. If I have to be picky about it.. I can only regret they dont have more options..
The wait staff did seem knowledgeable and very helpful, however the kitchen staff forgot 2 of my grandkids meals. Those 2 finally received their meals an hour after the rest of us had ours. The kitchen staff did a horrible job, not only with our meal, but several others. There was no reason for anyone to have to wait 1-1/2 hrs for their food. They honestly were not that busy.
I will never go there again. Do not trust their gf menu. I spent the night puking. I got the burger with the wavy fries, both says GF. I looked up the burger before I got there and assumed the beef patty was safe because I couldn’t find any info on it
This location has a knowledgeable staff and I have eaten here over 15 times now with no issues. I’m allergic to diary and gluten and they’ve been really great about preparing my food safely. I have been exposed to gluten at other Denny’s locations so not all of them are safe.
DO NOT GO TO THIS DENNYS. I’ve been exposed to gluten here TWICE. The managers don’t seem to care about food safety and the kitchen doesn’t seem to understand how cross contamination works. Other Denny’s locations are okay, but steer clear of this place.
They have GF next to a lot of breakfast items (bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, etc) and was surprised to see GF English muffins. I was specific with waitress and let her know def. gluten allergy/celiac and if they can heat on grill instead of shared toaster. After 3 bites I was questioning how good it was and asked waitress/showed her. She said it was regular English muffin. 😭 now I’m waiting for bad effects.
I have been here several times without issue. However the last time that I was there, I made sure to be very clear about the seriousness of the need for the food to be gluten free and concerns of cross contamination. My server said they understood made it feel like this was an inconvenience for her. After all that I got sick from the food. Truly hoping it was just a bad server but makes me nervous to come back.
I was surprised but they were actually super good! They list everything as being GF on the menu if it is. I have had the Caesar salad and the veggie skillet and have not gotten sick. Breakfast does seem to be the safer option here though.
Friends,I was traveling with a Friend who is a diagnosed celiac. We purposely sought out a restaurant that had gluten-free options for us, and Denny's Milpitas was a good fit that was close to our hotel. Unfortunately, this chain is exploiting the "gluten-free" market by falsely advertising an item that clearly is not such and item. When we questioned the server if the French fries (which were marked a "gluten-free") were fried in a separate hot oil fryer as other breaded item on the menu, she reported back to us that all item are fried in the same oil!While I'm not a celiac myself, I've seen the effects that a simple mistake like this has on a true celiac. Please reach-out to this Nationwide chain and share the necessary steps needed to claim "gluten-free" on a menu. Best regards, Jerry LaBant
The waitress was knowledgeable and careful. Kitchen accidentally put an English muffin on the plate with the rest of the food and she made them cook the entire meal over, without prompting from us. All in all, a better experience than I have ever had at a Denny’s.
Wife very ill within 2 hours of eating here, lots on the menu marked as gluten free but cross contamination must be an issue so no good for coeliacs. Service poor and not helpful in making sure food was suitable.
This was a nice surprise. My breakfast was great and I had no issues. The menu is marked with what is gluten free and the staff member we called to talk to ahead of time was confident in explaining how they protect against cross contamination. They even had tips under some entrees like “make this gluten free by substituting etc”. Who would’ve thought.
The first time we ate here, I ordered a gf English muffin before realizing it’s toasted in a common toaster & the butter tub is used for everything. I didn’t eat it, because I’m so sensitive. Making my own Grand Slam with naturally gf food the second time ended up being the best option. In both cases, service was VERY slow, which isn’t a big deal if you’re not in a rush.
Surprisingly Denny’s has some great Gluten Free options that are well marked on the menu including a delicious GF English Muffin. Their hash browns, omelets, etc are GF. They have GF fries and the burgers with no bun are very good. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean even though it is attached to a truck stop.
DO NOT eat here!! Before we were even sat I asked for a GF menu and was told all the GF items are identified on the menu. When my food came my plate was covered in gravy, not the food just the plate. Since my food came back in less than 2 minutes, on a cold plate, I was sure it was the same food. I had decided not to risk it but since we were traveling and it would be a while before I could eat again, my husband asked them to completely remake the food he was told it was but they would do it again. This time it took 10 minutes and came on a warm plate. The waitress told me the GF muffin was cooked in the regular toaster would that be a problem? As she is setting the plate down in front of me; the English muffin was also placed on top of the hash browns. She apologized and told me “it’s just so rare that someone has a gluten issue”. I wanted ask why they went through the trouble of identifying GF items on the menu if it is rare but did not. She was also so happy to tell me I would not be charged for my meal. When we went to pay for the rest of the ticket, I asked for the manager. Though I received gluten 3 times I did not raise my voice nor did I cuss, I kept my cool and treated him with respect, he did not return it but he did tell me there was no reason to be upset about any of it and especially with him as he has nothing to do with it. He voided the entire ticket not caring that he is responsible for the restaurant he manages and food it serves. I would hope he would have take me seriously as I told him reactions can last months and be deadly for some, but he told me I no reason to be upset. I told him I wanted to pay for the other food that the purpose for speaking to him was to make him aware of cross contamination. He completely felt free food was the solution. I have never ate at Denny’s and never will again. If you put GF on the menu, be responsible to find out what that means!
We arrived at this location due to the positive reviews. I asked for the gluten free menu because it is listed that they have a gluten free menu. The server said they did not have one but they had gluten free English muffins? We sat anyways and opened the menu, luckily all of the items that are gluten free are labeled in the regular menu. I'm not sure why the server did not just say that. There were 4 of us that sat down and there were only 2 placemats and silverware for 2. They never did bring over settings or silverware for the other 2 people in our party so we just took thm from another table. The server took our order and repeated it back. A few minutes later another server came over and asked us to repeat our order because they were confused. They brought the food and a English muffin that did not look gluten free. I asked and the server said it was. Not being sure I set it aside and then another worker came over and said that it k deed was not gluten free and said they would make me one that was gluten free. The whole reason we went here was because of the good gluten free reviews and the staff was not accommodating and careless on serving items given my allergies. We finally went to pay and we have AAA that says we get a 10% discount at all Denny's. It actually showed up on my AAA app for the location we went to. The cashier said they don't accept it there only AARP. I showed them the app and they just said no and ignored me and just left the bill open until I inserted my credit card and paid the full price. This by far has been the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant.
I have Refractory Celiac Disease and therefore must be extremely careful what I eat. I came here with family and was planning on not eating. However, the waitress convinced me to give their GF items a shot. The GF items/options are clearly marked on the menu. However, I was still nervous so I turned into the customer that most servers probably hate and heavily questioned their cooking and food safety practices. (But, hey - when getting glutened could potentially mean a hospital stay, you do what you gotta do.) The good news - they are supposed to use separate grills for gluten containing items (such as pancakes) and GF items (such as eggs). Now, when I pushed it they said it may or may not always happen that way. But, they would clean the grill and ensure there was no cross-contamination. BUT, here's the bad news, and where they are probably making a lot of people sick... The English Muffin is clearly labeled as GF on the menu. But, when I questioned them on how it is prepared - it goes in the SAME TOASTER as all the other bread. There is no other option for the English Muffin. So, it will be cross-contaminated 100% of the time. So, if you have Celiac Disease do NOT get the English Muffin even though it is labeled as GF. So, if you question them and make them do the right thing, and don't eat the English Muffin, you should be safe. Just don't expect to order items labeled as GF with no follow up and expect to not get glutened.
