Before we had ordered I had the feeling that the cashier wasn’t excited to see my family, but he took our order. Though there is a gluten free section on their menu on the wall, the paper menu’s, and the online menu, it seemed like we had asked a lot when we ordered from it. The cashier explained that equipment would need to be cleaned to make a gluten free order but didn’t hide that it was a inconvenience. We left wondering if our food had been tampered with.
Staff had no knowledge of ingredients, but we ultimately learned that only one sauce (lemon pepper) is gluten free and dairy free. I was also offered salt and pepper as a "sauce". The printed menu has items hand crossed-off the gluten-free menu, which means that early customers may have consumed gluten without their knowledge. We left without eating because it didn't seem safe.
They have a dedicated GF menu that includes most things you normally don't expect like wings, tenders, and popcorn chicken, as well as fries. They have a dedicated fryer that just takes a few minutes to heat up. The people were very friendly and attentive to my GF requests.
No dairy in the GF chicken breading mix. Popcorn chicken was good! French fries are plain and crinkle cut.
The sauces for the tenders/wings were amazing. Everything is gluten free except a few sides like the mozzarella sticks and poppers which the cashier walked through those with me. Those are made in a separate fryer to avoid cross contamination. Didn't get sick and really enjoyed the meal.
Very knowledgeable when it comes to gluten free and checked to see if I'm severely intolerant (celiac disease) or not. If you get sick from any amount of gluten, let them know and they will be sure to not let cross contamination occur. The chicken wings were delicious and not dry. The fries were really good too!
celiac friendly and very nice. hand made at time of order and so good. rice as a side.great service.
Did not have a gf printed menu. Chic wings were very juicy. GF breaded fried chicken was enjoyed by 3 in our party. They really liked eating fried chicken again. One portion was very dry. Fries were gf too. Be prepared- we waited about a half hour for the food. It was prepared fresh for us. Portions are very large. 3 piece fingers & fries is probably large enough for most.
Wonderful to be able to find a restaurant that my daughter can eat at. She gets immediately ill from gluten and was fine after eating the popcorn chicken and fries here. She enjoyed the food, maybe could use a touch of salt but it's available for you to use if you choose. Good portion sizes, good prices. I had the gluten free wings and thought they were good also.
Awesome place! Went here with my family, I have celiac so I am extremely sensitive. They were very accommodating to my situation. I got chicken tenders and fries. Fried using rice flour so they were completely safe, no cross contamination! They had wings and mozzarella sticks that weren't gf but other than that, pretty good options.
The chicken nuggets were beyond awful. It was basically plain chicken with a light dusting and fried. Not what you would expect. I also had the wings which were better, but note they put the sauce on the side. They did cook everything in separate oil, but the the woman working the front was clueless. Sounded like the kitchen new more. We had to wait a LONG time for GF options. If this was yelp I would have given 1 star for service.
Very conscience about gluten. We chatted for quite a while with the owner and she told us how she started offering GF food because of a family of regular customers who had a child with Celiac Disease or some other condition requiring GF. The child's mom helped her learn how to do GF safely.
I called about 20 minutes ahead of time and told them we were coming. The young man behind the counter was so friendly. He warned me our food would take longer. It wasn't a long wait at all. Chicken was delicious. He warned us which sauces weren't GF. We had the mild hot sauce and honey mustard with our popcorn chicken. Celiac kiddo was in heaven. The atmosphere and tables were not great, but the food more than made up for it. Dedicated kitchen space and fryer. Nobody got sick.
Following the advice in other reviews, we called ahead and let them know that someone with celiac disease was coming in. Staff was very helpful and friendly, and despite warnings that my food would take longer to prepare it came out pretty quickly. French fries were perfectly cooked and the wings were tasty.
Definitely want to go back and try the tenders or popcorn chicken next time!
they do have dedicted procedures for gfree cooking and they don't make the gfree foods in the fryer (read bottom of review). My celiac son can eat here with no problem. we call ahead so they know to expect us and they have the new oil ready for us when we get there. They have expanded their gfree menu to also included chicken tenders. Now you can get the family meal completely gfree!!!! (just remember to ask for the salad without croutons.) they don't have a dedicated fryer BUT they put oil in a pan/pot on the stovetop. So call ahead and tell them you require a gluten free meal, it takes 20 to 25 minutes before they are ready to cook. my son has celiacs and is very easily cross contaminated, however he has NEVER been cross contaminated at Dirty Lickins
I just called . . . They do have gluten free chicken fingers, but they do not have a dedicated fryer. Fine if you are gluten intolerant, but not if you have celiac.
