Be advised that a section of the menu is a mirage. All "gluten free modified" pasta on the menu is cooked in the same pot of boiling water that all other noodles containing wheat are also cooked in. Major cross contamination. Commercial kitchens that cook a lot of noodles normally keep a pot boiling all day for noodle dishes. I requested a fresh pot with the necessary couple inches of boiling water for my single serving of noodles. The staff were not willing to accommodate the simple request. In my opinion this was not an unreasonable request. Therefor this restaurant is not only uneducated about food allergen cross contamination but they are also very unaccommodating to guest needs. I ended up with just a simple steak. It had zero seasoning on it. Not even salt and pepper. Apparently they won't even use a simple on-the-fly seasoning of salt, pepper, and garlic if they can't use their gluten containing steak seasoning blend. The visit was a thorough let down.

District 36 is a much needed restaurant in Ankeny. We have enjoyed the food here for years. I wish they had more gluten free options because we’d be back more often if they did!

There are a few GF options on the menu. Our shrimp came with two giant pieces of garlic bread in the sauce. Very much not safe. And I did not trust the food at that point. I did give feedback to the kitchen. It’s disappointing.

Great gluten-free pastas. Lots of salad choices as well but no gluten-free buns or fryer.
