Dogwood Southern Table & Bar

Keep in mind, I am posting this from a gluten free perspective. My fiancee (who doesn't have food allergies) thought the food - as far as flavor was ok. I asked for a gluten free menu when we arrived - was told they didn't have one but the waitress would be able to help me. When our waitress arrived, she told me all of the entrees were completely gluten free. Looking through the list - I was shocked. There were some impressive dishes on there. We looked through and chose and option for an starter - pimento cheese... no gf bread or crackers. "But you can eat all the cheese you want!" our overly exuberant waitress informed us. Trouble is - they didn't have anything to eat it with. a spoonful of overly greasy pimento cheese didn't soon too good. When it came time to order our entrees... we questioned the waitress on various aspects of each dish... and turns out they were not all gluten free as she said. My fiancee was frustrated on my behalf and finally asked what I could have... shrimp and grits was about it. while I love the two individually... I don't like this traditional southern dish, but I went with it anyway. The grits we're good... but the shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. When our waitress came back to see how we liked I food, I told her mine wasn't good. she offered to bring me something else... but what? More cheese on a spoon? I'm used to having to navigate dining out... but at an upscale restaurant like this... staff should be much more informed.
