We saw all the wonderful reviews about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I attempted to order the sweet and sour chicken like others mentioned and they told me since I was celiac I couldn’t have it. The offered to make me a grilled sweet and sour version so I declined. I was looking forward to the traditional version. I then ordered their shrimp fried rice and asked about the gluten free soy sauce and was told they would find some. The food was very salty and I had to run to the bathroom just at we finished eating and had a sick stomach the rest of the night and next day.

Honestly wasn’t impressed with the food. I don’t eat duck so maybe I missed out not getting their specialty. I tried sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken. The sweet and sour chicken has to be made specially so it cost a bit more than the listed price. Both were just okay.
They use a shared fryer, normally that’s a dealbreaker for me but I was excited to get Chinese for the first time in years. It was a let down.

Excellent experience. The manager came out and asked me if I had celiac and told me that they stop the whole line and clean prior to making food if you have celiac. He went over what I could have on the menu beyond what was marked as GF. Recommended that you come on off hours though so they can be more careful with cross contamination. The food was great! I will be back.

I can't say enough about this place, it looks like a hole in the wall but it is such a gem!! There are a few marked gf items on the menu. I mentioned to the waitress I had a gluten allergy and she asked celiac or gluten intolerance. I was impressed she asked and told her celiac. She told me about 80% of the menu can be made gf. She told me what can and cannot be made gf. She was so helpful and knowledgeable. We got egg drop soup, general tso's chicken and kung pao chicken. It was all FABULOUS! I highly recommend and will be going back. I felt so safe eating here. If was the first Chinese I've had in over 3 years since diagnosis.

Loved it! Everything was delicious and they were so helpful with the menu. Things were marked gf but so many more things could be made gluten free if you asked. We just had to stear clear of anything fried and the pork dishes and fried rice.
They were clear when I called ahead it is best to come when it's not at peak dining times to ensure the best care for preventing cross contamination.

A variety of safe GF options, e.g. chicken, duck, beef & more. Peter, the owner, understands cross contamination. When my sensitive Celiac stomach couldn't handle spicy food, he made special modifications so I could enjoy my favorite General Tso's Chicken. They go the extra mile for their customers. Sadly, they are in danger of closing. Please join me in supporting this local family-owned business that has worked so hard to accommodate everyone. Their Go-Fund-Me page is for necessary renovations, www.gofundme.com/f/save-duck-changs.

Incredible knowledge about gluten-free/celiac. Staff was super helpful in identifying the many menu items that are gluten free on an extensive menu.

If you call then on the phone they are very thorough about saying what can/cannot be made gf. They’re great about it (will ask about celiac vs. gluten intolerant). Our go to place for asian food in the area.

Service was amazing. Spoke with manager or owner who walked me through whole process of how they cook GF meals. They stop the entire kitchen, which is why they ask that you order over the phone to make sure allergies are aware, and why they ask you don't order GF during busiest times.

Wow. This restaurant does it right. Explanations, the right questions, and totally understanding that celiac and gluten intolerance are two different things. Such a change! Excellent food. Clearly marked menu. Fabulous service. We plan to return—repeatedly!

Menu is well-marked for GF options, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff can recommend other items that can be adjusted. Delicious find, we’ll definitely be back!!!

Excellent food and service!
Their menu is marked with “GF” to indicate what is gluten free. They asked if we were celiac to gluten intolerant to be able to direct us to what was ok to eat or not. My wife is gluten intolerant, and so she was able to order items that weren’t marked “GF” but that they were still able to prepare without gluten.
We had the Szechuan Duck, Szechuan Eggplant, and Fried Rice. It was all so good!
We look forward to going back!

This place is amazing! Even with most GF Chinese places I don't feel great but this place! The food was delicious and so many options for gluten intolerant. Even options for celiac. The service was the very best! Neighbourhood gem!

Fantastic! The chef came to our table and explained what could be made gluten-free and what could not. He made a special dish for both our Celiac kids and a different one for me. It was delicious snd safe. Our new favorite Chinese restaurant.
Yes
Worth the drive to finally get GF Chinese food! They can make gf fried rice and general tso chicken! Eaten here multiple times and never any issues. Staff is very knowledgeable; though careful they do throw in non-GF soy sauce and fortune cookies in the bag.

Called my order in an hour ahead and it still wasn’t ready when I got there. When I asked how long it would be the owner came out of the kitchen and literally yelled at me that “they were cleaning the woks out just for my order and it would take another 20 minutes”. He was incredibly rude and was clearly annoyed that I dare ask for GF food. Obviously they don’t use separate dish ware for the gluten free dishes - they just wash their regular woks. This is not acceptable. I left without my food since I would never risk my kids health eating here. Add to that the horrible customer service and I don’t know why anyone would eat here.
Believe the hype. Gen Tso's.

The manager was very helpful and thorough about what what gluten-free on the menu. I'm not celiac, so I was able to eat the gluten-free sesame chicken with no issue. If I'm in the area, I would definitely come back again!
Yes
I have celiac so I was a little nervous going in, but they take amazing care to not cross contaminate anything. The breaded things cannot be eaten by someone with celiac because although the food is gluten free they told me they use the same dryer. They understand celiac disease and how critical it is to not have a spec of it in our food. The guy (think he may own it) sat down and went over the entire menu and what I could/couldn't have and what has a chance of cross contamination. He also recommended things by how flavorful they were. I will definitely be back here when I am in this city again. I waited for a day to do this survey to make sure I would not be sick. Oh and I had Mongolian beef. A little expensive for the amount of food you get, but since I never get Chinese food I was happy to pay it.
Yes
Staff seems knowledgeable, and food is delicious. However, be cautious! The first two times I ate here with no problems. Unfortunately on the third time I got dreadfully sick, as did my daughter (we both have Celiac). I'm really not sure about trying it again.

Delicious food and staff/owner were so knowledgeable on GF options. They personally went through the menu with me!

I grew up in Annandale & always loved Duck Chang's. I've lived iut of the area for the past 13 years, and have since stopped eating gluten b/c my children were diagnosed with Celiac. I was just in town for the day & was so excited to see that they offer good gf options here. We had the gf General Tso's Chicken & the gf Sesame Chicken, and both were great. I only wish we had these options closer to where we live, but we'll definitely come back whenever we're in town!
Yes
Love this place! Have eaten here several times with no problems, so I know they are careful about cross contamination. Their General Tso's Chicken is delicious and tastes like the real deal! I am bummed that their fried rice and sweet and sour chicken is not GF, but still incredibly grateful to have any sort of Chinese takeout - especially something as yummy as this- available to me as an option! Thank you, Duck Chang's!!!

manager was very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. I would certainly go back. I didn't get sick and the food was very good!

They made gf sesame chicken and it tasted pretty close to the real thing. Will be going back!
I haven't even received my food yet, but just had to post how kind and awesome the service is here. Owner/chef came out himself and walked me through the menu. He is able to make General Tsao Chicken gluten-free! Some things are obviously not able to be GF, but they make extraordinary attempts to have a lot of options. I really expected there to be only a few choices.
Yes
great dinner! the owners are very knowledgeable and offered lots of options. my non-GF boyfriend also really enjoyed the food (gluten and gluten free options).
Yes
The manager's daughter has many food allergies, wheat included. They are very careful about preparation of food & can make many of the dishes gluten free. Horray for Chinese food!
The owner's child is celiac and they can make several dishes GF. I usually get the sweet Sesame Chicken, Hunan Chicken, Chicken Curry, or Szechuan String Beans.
