American style food.Udi's buns for the burgers.Server was minimally aware and stumbled on questions.
I made it very clear that I have celiac to the server and she was totally clueless when it came to safest options to minimize the risk of cross contamination. They do have a gluten sensitive menu but have a warning listed that it’s not a GF environment. My chili That I ordered (thinking it would be the safest best for minimizing the risk) came out to me with a slice of regular bread. They clearly don’t care or understand at this location. I would avoid this place if you have celiac.
Used to trust them . Now i dont. The server put croutons on my salad after i asked him not to and stayed i was gluten free. Then i ordered a tuna burger on a gf bun and about 3 bites into it i realized it WAS A REGULAR BUN!needless to say i got glutened and they tried to rectify it by a free gift card but it ruined probly what will be my whole weekend
We went here with extended family while on a family trip. I didn’t choose this place and was initially very apprehensive because of past reviews. However, I decided to make the most of it. I was most concerned with my two celiac children. This place has offerings consistent with sports bars. The gluten-free menu is actually labeled “gluten sensitive.” It isn’t extensive, but offers a few items including gluten free pasta Alfredo. When I spoke to the waiter—he immediately gave me the gluten sensitive menu, but was not able to answer any questions about preparations. He said he would send a manager. The manager said not to worry, because the gluten free items would trigger a special preparation on the ticket. I kept on telling him that the food could not have any cross contamination and he did not suggest he would speak to anyone about it, but just said that the cooks were careful. Ummmmmm—lets just say that it didn’t bring me any confidence at all and after using up so much energy trying to explain to both waiter and manager and waiting about half an hour, I talked to my kids and they settled on gluten free pasta. My son had a marinara on his and my daughter went for the Alfredo. My son thoroughly enjoyed his tiny helping and actually wanted more. My daughter’s pasta was undercooked and very chewy, but her shrimp were great. I would say that this was not my favorite place and if given the choice, I would not return here not just because of the gluten concerns, but because the service was lacking overall, each person’s food came out at a different time, the waiter would disappear, the bathrooms were disgusting, and the manager seemed a little too lax and unconcerned with my kids’ orders. Neither of them got sick, so I won’t say that they messed anything up, but as far as restaurants go in general, this was just not my favorite.
My daughter and I both ordered pasta... they served me her "regular" pasta and when I asked if it was GF (because it had a piece of garlic bread on the plate) the server acted annoyed that I would double check. When I was served the correct plate of GF pasta, it was undercooked and pretty disappointing. I also didn't feel to great the next day :(
Fun spot-- separate GF menu which had a decent amount of options. They use Udi's GF rolls, so you are able to have hamburgers and sandwiches. They also had GF pasta, so there was the choice of chicken Alfredo. I went with the burger, which was very good (albeit a little too well done for my taste). Manager brought over my meal as well, so I felt like they knew what they were doing!
I was just happy to find a place close that had a gluten free option. They do have a dedicated GF menu; it had a fair enough options available. Let's be realistic here, we shouldn't expect a full multi-page menu. The burgers are good and Udi's bread is always a guarantee flavor. If you are expecting more from a sports bar in terms of offerings then go find a dedicated GF restaurant, but this was a good option for a bar scene on the water.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! Yes they have a gluten free menu which is the reason I went here. The menu is very small and they list obvious items such as broccoli gluten free. After asking the woman who seated me for the gluten free menu she told me she didn't know what that meant. Finally my waitress brought it over. I ordered the cheeseburger because the menu advertised Udis gluten free buns. When the food came I had a weird feeling about it. The bun did not look gluten free but my waitress assured me twice that it's gluten free and "she has me covered" The bun was definitely not gluten free. Tasted like normal white bread and after researching pictures of Udis buns, it was definitely not Udis. I haven't had a stomach ache this bad in months and urge anyone coming here to be extremely careful. Definitely not coming back
They have a dedicated gluten free menu, which basically lets you have any sandwich or buffer gluten free (Udi's bun). We ordered the mussels for an appetizer and it was served with bread, the waitress apologized and did not charge us for them which I thought showed they were seriously about gluten free.
I loved the GF chicken curry but it has not been on the menu recently. On a couple occasions, they brought my burger with a bun. Seems room for improvement in education. I have gone on many other occasions however and had OK experiences. Nothing to write home about but nice to have as an option.
Happy to find a gluten free menu! It was delicious and i had no ill side affects. I had the ribs, baked potato plain with real butter and asparagus plain no seasoning. I explained To the waiter that I actually have a gluten allergy and will be sick for 3 days if there is cross contamination and asked him to please ask the kitchen to do their best to not cross contaminate as the menu clearly states their could be contamination. Ask lots of questions before you order and remember that fewer ingredients, less steps in preparation less risk of cross contamination. I will be back :)
Limited menu, but good quality and tasty. The staff's knowledge on what was on their menu was poor. They had no idea what salad dressings, if any were gluten free. My daughter had the cob salad with a simple oil and vinegar dressing. Sadly she got sick a few hours later from a typical gluten reaction. In short, a great restaurant for those who do NOT have gluten allergies.
I was eating here occasionally because of the gf menu. Un fortunately I've gotten "glutened" every time. Last time I had the steak and arugula salad. I could feel my stomach knotting up and the tingles I get within 10 mins. I had the waitress double-check the dressing so it was probably the spices on the meat. While I appreciate their efforts, this is NOT a gf menu! If you go here, the potato skins are safe, although the risk of contamination is still there.
