DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS PLACE! I have never felt so taken care of at a not dedicated place. The humans working were two of the kindest people I’ve ever met. They were so helpful and understanding and supportive and knowledgeable when I ordered. For not being dedicated, they had SO MANY options for any allergies. I feel like this is not referenced enough in the Kauai celiac community and wish I would have discovered it earlier in our trip; I would have went everyday! I ordered the loaded acai bowl and was not disappointed. Fully loaded is an understatement; so many delicious toppings, fresh ingredients. Thank you to the staff working today
"Caffe Coco is located in the heart of Wailua, on the island of Kauai. A quaint cottage Cafe with an outdoor garden setting. We strive to serve you Island grown produce, Fresh Island Fish, Organic Chicken, and to support our Local Farmers. Specializing in Vegan, Vegetarian, and Gluten Free."
I would give this cafe 10/10 stars!! I’ve never felt so confident eating out. I got the plain jane burger with a gluten free chocolate chip cookie. The burger was seriously the best I’ve ever had. The cookie wasn’t great, but it was better than no cookie. I’m extremely symptomatic and eating out always really freaks me out, but the man at the counter assured me that I was safe. I’m so thankful to have found this place on holiday.
I would give this place 20 zillion stars if I could! OMG the pancakes - we went twice just for pancakes. The second time I got 2 orders with the intention of taking one to go to snack on in the car but they didn't last that long (they're bite-size, guys!). I don't know what witchcraft they're using but those things are pure magic, and to be vegan and gf... just wow. We chatted with the owner a couple times and he's so amazing. We went one night for dinner - hot tip: keep up on their insta as they sometimes have dinner hours. Had a yummy beyond burger on gf bread with dill sauce, pineapple and teriyaki - a delicious mess! We had an awesome waitress at dinner and she definitely took the Celiac seriously for me, and even let us know they had 2 gf chocolate chip cookies left. It's a cute little place, chill outdoor seating and plenty of chickens to keep you on your toes. We could have gone there more than 3 times, it was so yummy and served our need for gf and vegan options so well.
GF items clearly marked on menu and very yummy!! Also mark nuts and soy on menu, and entire menu is vegan.
I loved this place!!!! Just a few things to start off with:
- the entire restaurant is VEGAN
- they mark everything on the menu if it GF, contains nuts, or contains soy, so this is a great place if you have other dietary restrictions
- they have a very extensive menu with breakfast and lunch
The menu had smoothies, acai bowls, pancakes, burritos, baked goods and entrees. ALMOST EVERYTHING IS GLUTEN FREE! They mark everything clearly too. The staff were great as well! I am not celiac so I cannot speak to that, but the waiter noted to the kitchen that I was gluten free and dairy free and I feel great after eating there. I would 100% recommend the açaí bowl and the banana bread!
If you are in Kauai, GO, this has been my favorite place all week! Just make sure you look up the hours because they are a little funky.
They have gluten free baked goods like banana bread, cookies and brownies. They also have a full menu with gluten free and vegan options. They had gluten free macadamia nut pancakes but I didn’t get a chance to try it. I loved the banana nut bread but the cookies were not good.
I asked three times for the gf wrap when ordering and then it was brought out on a non-gf bun. When I asked to confirm the waitress said that I just asked and did not request the actual wrap. I am pretty sure they just swapped the meat and did not remake. Their stuff lacked flavor and was mainly lettuce. I liked the atmosphere and byob.
amazing. waitress knew pretty much all ingredients, was able to say which were gluten free dairy free soy free. jerk chicken on mashed purple sweet potato, yummy yummy! Tahitian lemonade was tasty but very tart. hubby said of his purple sweet potato Samosa appetizer "can I have another?" even though it was the size of the salad plate.
Very cute restaurant. But be aware that they only serve acai bowls, salads, and non-alcoholic beverages before evening. We went in around lunch but decided salad wasn't substantial enough, so we bought a loaf of GF vegan banana bread and went elsewhere. The bread was great! Pay attention to the signs on the baked goods, most are GF but some are made with spelt flour.
For a great gluten free meal this is the place and would have given it five stars, except for the biting flies. If you dine outside ask for bug spray you'll need it. I had eight bites from those small pesky flies. The local macadamia nut crusted fish with green curry sauce was fantastic! Gluten free chocolate chip cookie and ice cream was great way to end the meal! I will go back but only after applying bug spray first!
overall the food was delicious, but I was disappointed because they put regular toast on top of my gluten free pasta which I would not even had known except I wasn't expecting toast so asked if it was gluten free. she said "no but the pasta is, you don't have to eat it (referring to the toast) "
Great local find! Almost anything can be made GF. Wonderful atmosphere with local live entertainment every night. Owner is very accommodating. Check out the GF chocolate chip cookies and don't forget to BYOB if you would like to enjoy an adult beverage. Went 2 different nights while on the island, never had any problems!
Delicious! They were wonderful about accommodating my food allergies (gluten, dairy, egg, vinegar, legumes). Gf/vegan chocolate chip cookies are to die for, as is the coconut pudding.
Unbelievably fresh and delicious food. They accommodate for gluten allergies and are vegan friendly too. Adorable atmosphere. Bring your own wine.
Home cooked, fresh and local ingredients, delicious, and friendly!
