ok drinks on happy hour, chips made me sick . go to caberras on lake.
The waitstaff initially could not guarantee the chips were not cross contaminated but they did say that flour products were not intentionally fried with the Tortilla chips. So I tested the Tortilla chips with my Nima tester and they tested Gluten Free. I also ordered the steak fajita with corn tortillas, extra guacamole, no sour cream, no cheese (because I'm also allergic to dairy). Black beans were substituted for refried beans. The waitstaff told the kitchen to cook the tortillas in aluminum foil separately to avoid cross contamination. The waitstaff was very understanding, accommodating and helpful. I would recommend eating here. However, they seemed reluctant to promise that there was zero risk of cross-contamination. I appreciated their honesty.
I can't remember the last time I got this sick. I've had such good luck with Mexican food, but holy hell this was horrific.
No
We went because they are supposed to be celiac friendly. I was super excited to try their chips, but our server told me that the chips were gluten free but that everything else, with the exception of the carnitas was questionable. Honestly, she seemed entirely uncertain about what was safe for me to eat, but rather than finding out just kept telling me that the only thing I could be certain about was the fajitas without a tortilla.
We ended up walking out because I couldnt take the risk. I was pretty bummed because I was looking firward to tacos....which according to the other reviewer here was totally doable. Clearly they need to train their servers better. Luckily there was a PF Changs next door.
Management was super accommodating to our inquiries and special requests. They have a separate fryer for their chips and took extra care to heat up a new batch of oil for us nonetheless (we were there before the rush). My son (who has Celiac) had Crispy Tacos and there were other options as well. They don't have a dedicated menu but were attentive to our needs and happy to take the extra care to avoid cross contamination best as possible for the items on the menu that didn't contain gluten (chips, tacos with corn tortillas, guacamole, etc...)
