Let me start by saying, this place was great!! We can't wait to go back and would highly recommend the resort to anyone looking around. First and foremost is the food. While planning our honeymoon, we needed a place that was well versed in handling gluten allergies (Celiac disease). We found this resort through Lesley Hock a travel agent at Travel Leaders in Framingham Mass. that specializes in travel for people with Celiac Disease. I have to say, the resort's awareness of food allergies especially with gluten was far better than many restaurants we go to in Los Angeles, were being gluten free is more trendy than an actual health issue. Add to that the fact that we never had a bad meal, never! They took care to ask at every meal if we had a food allergy and then proceeded to help find what I could eat. At breakfast they had gluten free bread in a separate please with a separate toaster. To me this demonstrated they were well trained in what Celiac Disease is and how to care for someone with Celiac Disease. Here are some other things we thought worth sharing for those planning a trip:1. Food - Order multiple courses at the restaurants, just an entree is not enough to fill you up and the menus are designed to be done as courses.2. Activities - there are some communication issues, for instance, the weekly agenda said kayaking and snorkeling participants just need to arrive 10 minutes early, when we did that we were told they were full and that we were supposed to make a reservation at the front desk. 3. Timeshares - They will try to get you to a timeshare seminar (what resort won't), this was something our travel agent left out but in the end we were not harassed much at all and wound up avoiding it completely.4. Spa - if you have the time and some extra money, make a spa trip, we had a couples massage with their hydrotherapy and loved every moment.5. Shoddy construction- While the place is beautiful and very clean, if you have an eye for details you will notice things like water leaking from light fixtures in the restaurant when it rains, switches in your room that seem to do nothing, etc...All easily overlooked but for some people this is an issue.6. Friendly staff - Everyone here is so friendly and accommodating, as someone on tripadvisor commented, if the words "Hola" and "it was my pleasure" drive you nuts, be warned :)7. Adults only - We both love kids and work with them in various capacities but lets face it, when you are on vacation for a week of romance, you never know if the kids around you will be angels or the spawn of Satan. It was great to just be around adults the whole time.8. Snacks - This was something lacking around the resort. When sitting on the beach all day, sometimes some chips and salsa or guacamole would be awesome. Snacks seem to be a foreign word here and the ones they put in your mini bar once a day are 2 small bags of plantain chips (which we never did find out if they were gluten free). Be warned, a bag of potato chips in the gift shop can be pricey! Luckily I did pack some bags of GF pretzels and things for myself.
