El Pollo Guapo

We went here as a group with my son that has celiac. We felt safe and he didn't get sick. As the lady said, 95% of their menu is gluten free, which greatly reduces the risk of cross contamination. Pretty much the only thing with gluten is the flour tortilla shells.

There is a good variety of gluten free options. We had the family meal, which is a whole rotisserie chicken, a kids chicken taco (soft corn shell), two different bowls, and a salad, all gluten free.

They have some gluten free adult beverage options as well.

If you are looking for a place that's safe, casual, and tasty, I recommend Pollo Guapo.

I eat here all the time. I’m strict about gluten and cross contamination and have not had issues here. Almost every dish is gluten free. Only a few things on menu have gluten so makes me feel better about the food. Knowledgeable on celiac. Love the chicken tacos.

Best tacos ever. I love the Taco Guapo. Delicious bowls. Creative combinations that you can’t get anywhere else. It’s casual, so just drop in. Not your average taco. So much better!

Separate GF fryer brings fresh delicious 100%GF fries to James Island! We've tried salads, rotisserie, tacos various sides and the flavors are amazing! Take out or eat in. A couple local beers (not GF) on tap and in the fridge. Wine in cans and other gf drink selections in the fridge. Haven't yet tried the margaritas or happy hour - both advertised.

Great experience! 95% of the menu is gluten free. Dedicated fryer. They use rotisserie chicken that is very tender. I had a salad that included picked onions, roasted red peppers, roasted brussels, corn, and a cilantro lime vinaigrette. I'm currently following a Paleo style diet and this place was very fresh and natural so was easy to stay fairly compliant. They also have a cooler with plenty of gluten free hard ciders and hard kombucha. Highly recommend. Felt safe.

One of the owner’s wives has celiac so this place does it right. Most of the food is GF by default. Delicious bowls, tacos, and sides. Felt completely comfortable eating here, and the food is fantastic. What’s not to love??

Delicious flavors and awesome Spoke with the owner. Separate fryers for anything gluten (desserts, quesadillas and empanadas) but everything else is gluten free. Will definitely be back!

Almost everything is gluten free! Dedicated fryer for non gluten frying. Chicken and sauces, tacos, bowls, many sides... all gluten free. Can be dairy free, too. Extremely knowledgeable, helpful, accommodating! I am very comfortable that my food is safe and not cross-contaminated. Awesome service and they answered all of my questions.
