I experienced Ellen's Stardust Diner about a week ago with a school group. Due to being with a large group, we were asked to preorder of a condensed menu. We are gluten free and the only options initially available to us was gluten free pasta with chicken. We were unable to get an answer prior to visiting as to if the pasta was cooked in divided pot with wheat pasta, so we asked for plain chicken with a side salad. This eventually turned into a salad with chicken on top per the restaurants decision. Our salads first arrived with croutons, so they needed to be remade. When the waitress returned the salads consisted of lettuce and chopped chicken. I inquired about salad dressing and unfortunately a gluten free option was unavailable. I was told they could bring me oil and vinegar so I could mix my own. I asked if the salsa was gluten free and was told yes, so that is what used in place of dressing. Overall, I did enjoy the singing and whatnot, but wouldn't necessarily go again if we visit NYC on our own as there are other restaurants we'd like to check out that can accommodate our gluten free status with more variety.
