Unfortunately, we were given gluten pita bread by mistake. They had someone running the food out that wasn’t the waiter or manager so that is how the mistake was made. I picked up the pita but realized it felt way too fluffy for gluten free so didn’t eat it and when I asked our waiter he immediately knew it was not gluten free. The manager came over right away and sincerely apologized and then the waiter came over and said all our food was comped, so I feel like they did what they could to make it right but all the food became questionable and I was sick the next morning so I wonder if something else got mixed up. I feel like this issue can be avoided if they had the allergy indicator sticks in the food and/or ONLY the manager/waiter bring out allergy friendly food. There’s too much room for error otherwise, especially with how crowded it was and it was a weeknight. I am still giving three stars since they were sincerely apologetic and professional about the mistake, I know the person who served us the wrong food felt horrible. They also comped the food which was appreciated. The food was 5 star food in terms of taste.
Phenomenal service - we had about an hour wait, but at some point the front hostess let the manager know about my celiac and two other severe food allergies - he came out to talk to me and also let the server know ahead of time. Every item was confirmed with me regarding prep. Everything tasted amazing - will definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend to others.
By far the best restaurant experience I’ve had since going GF 10 years ago. Besides the fact that the food was PHENOMENAL, they were very knowledgeable, kind and accommodating. Most of the menu is GF and they take cross contamination seriously. And GF fryers!! Fried Brussels anyone?! 😊
Went here for brunch. The staff was knowledgeable about gluten. The food is served somewhat family style, meant for sharing, and the server did a nice job letting us know which dishes we ordered had gluten. The food was excellent and definitely a place I wold recommend.
Food was phenomenal. Everything on the menu is gluten free except for one item. Wait staff was very patient and knowledgeable. They also marked our order ticket so that the kitchen would know that the order was for someone with celiac as opposed to a general intolerance.
One of the best meal we had in Chicago. Best service. They have a special GF menu, but most of the regular menu is GF. Everything was excellent. Hummus and stracciatella is one of my favorites! Everything is fresh ans tasty. They made me a special non-alcoholic drink upon request. If you are celiac and in Chicago, you really need to go there!
Amazing gluten free menu! Server was so helpful and kind, and took the time to ensure I felt safe eating (even explaining their policy on taking all allergies very seriously, trained staff, etc). Delicious tapas-like meal with Mediterranean flavors. Highly recommend!
Wonderful cuisine and a new favorite place! Enjoyed small plates of the spicy hummus with gluten free crackers (!!!), grilled octopus, grilled pork belly, and lamb and kefta kabobs. All were so delicious! As previous reviewers mentioned, this is a LEYE restaurant and they take celiac/gluten free very seriously. Thank you Ema!
Lettuce Entertain You restaurants always treat celiacs right, and Ema is no exception. Nearly all of the menu is either GF or easily adaptable...and I nearly cried tears of joy the first time they brought out their house-made GF crackers and beautiful crudité to go with the silky hummus (Pro-tip: get the spicy hummus or mushroom hummus). Grilled octopus is amazing, kefta is tender and flavorful and you may be tempted to lick the tziki out of the bowl. Don’t miss the cocktails - they have a small, expertly crafted menu of drinks, with Great NA cocktails available as well!
Dedicated GF menu and staff was knowledgeable of gluten. Meals are small plate meals, like tapas. The grilled octopus was recommended by my server and was delicious as were the roasted potatoes. Great for a light meal and if you’re not starving.
