I will never go to The Embassy again. I didn’t have any.issues with cross contamination (I got the chicken stir-fry). But they have a long way to go in terms of interacting appropriately with someone that has Celiac Disease (I have Celiac). I went in 2012 or 2013 for my mother’s retirement dinner. Everything was okay until the end of the meal, when the cook came out of the kitchen, looking for feedback about the food. Instead of approaching me at my table to avoid having everyone in the restaurant focus on my food intolerance, the cook yelled, “How about the gluten lady?!”, in a voice loud enough for everyone in the entire restaurant to hear. I was mortified, and yelled back at him, “Don’t call me that!” I got up immediately to look for the owner, and I might as well have gone outside to talk with part of the building material, as the owner made excuses for the cook. I was in tears on the way home (I lived in Mt. Brydges at the time), no longer live in Glencoe, and even though The Embassy may have new management, I can’t pass that place without remembering what happened at my mother’s retirement dinner. I refuse to go back because of how the previous staff treated me because of something I didn’t ask for, can’t help, and can’t change no matter how much I wish to.
