The server was amazing. Very understanding of celiac and it sounds like they take it very seriously. She explained to me they use separate utensils and very familiar with what is needed to keep celiacs safe. She said she’s worked there 10 years and no one has got sick on her watch. Sushi was very tasty. Didn’t feel sick after eating here. Would throughly recommend to celiacs!
Found this place on the app. I Went here for dinner tonight. First time. They have a dedicated gluten free menu with many options and hard kombucha June shine if you want an alcoholic drink. I had the protein roll and tsunami roll. Both were good. It’s just nice to find a local place to have sushi as my old place doesn’t have a gf menu or marked items on the menu. Kind of pricey for the portion size. The rainbow roll was $3 more on the gf menu than the regular menu. No dedicated fryer so I stayed away from any fried options as I’m sensitive to cross contamination. I’d come back.
Not celiac safe! The gluten free menu options are made in the same fryer resulting in significant cross contamination. In other words, not gluten free. Only after getting exposed to gluten did the chef tell us the GF items are NOT actually gluten free and we should avoid most of them. If you must dine at the Sushi Lounge don’t count on the GF menu. Advise them of your allergy and select carefully from the GF menu. You will also need to tell them to change the board, gloves, and knife because they use the same utensils for all gluten dishes.
Found this restaurant with the app and decided to give it a try. It's not easy to find a reliable GF sushi place. We were not disappointed. The server appeared well informed about GF needs and understood cross contamination issues. They do not have a dedicated frier, so fried items are not safe for Celiac even though they still appear on the GF menu. However, the server explained to me that they can either make substitutions or grill instead of frying. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the prices are very reasonable. My daughter was so happy - it's been years since she was able to have sushi.
Worth the drive. I was craving sushi and hadn't been able to eat it since being diagnosed with celiac disease. They provided a separate GF menu. I knew from previous reviews that they do not have a dedicated fryer. This is important, because ~80% of the sushi rolls offered on the GF menu include shrimp rolled in cornstarch and fried in the shared fryer. I had a Rainbow and Tsunami roll, both of which were delicious and didn't contain fried shrimp. The ponzu sauce (broth?) they made from scratch GF just for me. Everything was DELICIOUS. Note: Cannot use Happy Hour prices (1/2 off) for GF sushi. They prepared my food on a separate cutting board and provided tamari sauce. Our server was Corey... he was knowledgeable and did a great job with my GF needs. One more thing: I have celiac disease and I'm also a dietitian, so I'm very careful. I did not get sick after eating here.
Sushi was ok. The options for Gluten free were limited and a little expensive. I may try them again but expectations are lowered. Waitress clearly wasn't trained on Gluten allergies and was guessing on some items.
