This place was great for celiacs. The lady working there took her time to explain to us the options and process to avoid contamination. I had a gf calzone (first one I’ve had in years), gf breadsticks and gf pizza. Probably one of the best gf meals I’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend.
I had high hopes for this place seeing that the Gluten Free Connecticut page raved about it. Drove an hour and half to get there. Customers before us left upset because they waited an hour... so we were already worried about our food. Then our meals took even longer and it was not gluten free like I had asked. I have a severe gluten allergy and one the reasons it was so appealing to eat there was their gluten free dough. They almost served me a regular calzone and luckily I always ask what I’m being served before I eat it, but then it took another 20 minutes for them to remake my food. The staff was very apologetic and were able to give me some dough to bring home which was nice, but I wish the situation had not happened in the first place. Seeing other customers leaving upset was not good either.
Absolutely looove their HOMEMADE pizza crust! Its great to have a normal tasting/textured pizza. Best crust around. A must try! Where else can you get a calzone?? 99% of all restaurants can't be bothered to satisfy their customers and only order a prefabbed frozen crust- NOT HERE!! Try it to see
I discovered my love of their Gluten Free menu only recently and even though I have to drive a half hour to get there, it's well worth it! I've been there three times this month! I don't have any cross contamination sensitivities when I dine there. You can even choose from a verity of gf desserts. My kids love there traditional recipes. It's a win for the whole family. They have an employee that comes in every morning to prepare a fresh batch of gluten free dough. When you dine on a gf calzone you know they made the dough and it was never frozen.
I used to order from here all the time, but I've gotten gluten the last two times I've eaten here. The last time had to have been more than just cross contamination as it took me 6 weeks to recover. It's a shame as their food is really good, but I most definitely will not be back.
Best gluten free pizzas and calzones that I've had in the past 9 years. They are beyond amazing, the dough tastes absolutely great. My family enjoys their gluten free food more than the regular kind. You have to make it clear you are gluten free, unless they will make it regular, and then blame the customer. Also, some employeees are couteous while others are not at all, and quite disrespectful to customers. It's very disappointing to get overcharged for another $15 for an extra pizza twice. Since the new ownership, the place has definitely gone down hill. Not too sure that I'll be coming back, the food is so good but not so much the atmosphere or service.
The best gf pizza and CALZONES!! The only place I've found gf calzones! They also have gf wings, salad, desserts, etc. Friendly atmosphere and good service. They also deliver to the surrounding area. Also, check their website for coupons before going!
We were staying at Mohegan Sun and decided to try this place since it was so close by both Mohegan and Foxwoods. It is a small place, not fancy by any means, but they are extremely careful and knowledgable about gluten free. Over three visits, we tried the breadsticks, cheese breadsticks--which are basically a flavored pizza-like crust with mozz cheese, cut into strips (excellent!), the pizza ( many toppings available) and the gf penne with meatballs. For dessert, we had the gf key lime tart, the Nutella cake and my husband had the non-gf snickers cake. We enjoyed everything. Reasonable prices and we had a good time joking with the staff, esp Karen. We will def be back when in the area.
It's not enough to say this is a place of unprecedented amazingness... Their pizza is to die for.. the best I've had in my 4 years GF. and their desserts, well you would think your in an Italian bistro only your not. :) But the best part for me was they have a deal where if you buy 3 pizzas you get a fourth cheese for free.. well we ordered 2 to eat then and got two half cooked and froze them for the next week. I'm eating it now thinking... theirs no way it's still this good... but it IS!!
Being local, we've been regularly ordering GF pizza from Engine 6 for three years now, ever since our son was diagnosed with Celiac. Reading the other reviews, I'm realizing how much we've missed out on by only ordering delivery and never consulting the menu anymore. Calzones? Desserts? We need to get on the ball!
Amazing GF calzone and pizza. All of the staff were knowledgable and happy to explain how carefully they handle all stages of the gluten-free food preparation. They have a separate space, protected and cleaned, for handling dough, utensils, pans, and all gluten-free entrees. Although we didn't try them, a customer came in for GF meatballs and GF pasta! I am highly sensitive, and I am happy to report NO tummy-ache. Highly recommend!
The food was INCREDIBLE!!! It's a Celiac/ gluten sensitive persons dream. Finally a pizza place that has a "real" gluten free menu, and not just the salad or the ingredients list. Their calzones are out of this world, they have amazing bread sticks and yes even delectable gf desserts! Nothing beats their service too. Best Gluten free and service I've ever had. Well..what are you waiting for?! :)
