No dedicated prep area at this location
Slightly different bread than another location I’m used to; their stuff was a little mushy. But I love the dedicated GF prep area.
Yes
They have a separate station for making the gluten free items. While I miss sourdough, I liked their gf bread. I have eaten there several times and not had any problems.
Yes
They were really busy and this isn't my usual Erik's location. The one in Los Gatos has never ever made me sick.
But this one did. Itchy scalp and some nice mouth-tingling.
Had a good experience here. Staff was very knowledgeable about gf options and precautions to take. Bread was just ok.
Cross-contamination. I found no safe options here. Disappointed and hungry.
Takes a little longer to get a gfree sandwich. No charge for the gfree bread and they will prepare it on a separate surface if requested. Be careful to pay attention to the meats - not all are gfree.
I am super sensitive and have been only ordering salads or soups in fear that the sandwiches are not safe. I ordered one today and feel great! I watched the prep, and they changed gloves and don’t really touch the food directly. I feel safe ordering again. Update 9/5/23: I have become a regular here and love the sandwiches!!

Great sandwiches and soups! Tons of options for both gluten free and not.

They have absolutely no idea what gluten free means. I asked which sandwiches we're gluten free, and no matter how many different times I asked the answer was "this bread is gluten free". I asked if the pesto on a sandwich was gluten free, "I don't know but the bread is gluten free so it's gluten free". DO NOT EAT HERE. It's sad because the one in downtown San Jose is good.

This is the only sandwich shop I feel completely comfortable eating at! Owners, managers, and most employees are incredibly mindful, aware of what ingredients are and aren’t gluten-free, and take really good care to avoid cross-contamination. They have a separate prep area for gluten-free sandwiches and will cut/make ingredients from scratch to avoid cross-contamination. It’s still a sandwich shop, and there’s always a chance something will slip through the cracks, so if you’re incredibly sensitive that’s something to keep in mind. I’ve never had an issue, though, and after watching the employees work and how careful they are, I feel very comfortable eating here.
