I’ve been trying to convince my family to come here for AGES because the reviews are glowing, and today they finally said yes so we went and i darn near cried when i took a bite of a chicken tender, it was that good. I also didn’t get sick afterwards! The staff were really friendly and they let my little cousin (toddler aged) run around because they said they liked seeing kids happy. Overall 10/10 would come back
My favorite place to eat GF in RVA. I always get the fried chicken sandwich with some type of sauce. The bbq sauce is house made and amazing! The fries are unique and always seasoned perfectly. It is not often that I can sit down and KNOW that what I am getting is safe and I have more GF options that not.
Almost everything in this place is or can be made gluten free and this has been a breath of fresh air for me. They bread their fried food in corn starch. They make gravy with corn starch. They have gluten free buns. They have a gluten free brownie sundae for dessert.
I had fried fish for the first time in over a decade.
We go here often and I haven’t had any issues. I can’t say enough good things about this place.
Go to this restaurant! If you’re in Sandston, you know there’s not much here, so we’ve got to support this place! Their menu clearly marks items that AREN’T gluten-free, because most of the menu is. My burger (on a requested gluten-free bun) and fries were DELICIOUS, and I didn’t think I’d have breaded cheese curds ever again, and theirs are breaded in corn starch and are amazing! They also have gluten free options on their beer menu. Great experience!
Great food and friendly service. The menu is mostly gf, and they label the things that are NOT gf. My husband has celiac, and felt very safe. I am lactose-intolerant, and the chef came out to make sure I'd be okay with the buttermilk battered fried chicken and the bin that had milk as an ingredient. They are very conscientious and helpful!
go for food, not ambience. this is absolutely a rough-ish looking local bar, which im not super into. it had a bit of a cigarette smoke to me, but not my husband. if i were not excited about the food- i don't know if i would have dined there. absolutely go for the food- i had the most delicious gf sandwich and the fries were amazing. visual aesthetic/ vibes aside, i'd give it a 5/5.
Took forever for service which is whatever if the food is good. They ended up giving my daughter and I both none gluten free buns. They brought us new ones after we took bites and they ran out and gave us new ones. The non gluten free one looked awesome toppings and all the gf they brought was just a burger nothing on it and we were to hungry to wait any longer. My son loved thw gf chicken strips and wings. So other than that mix up it was good.
We found this place via FMGF as we were driving from Williamsburg to Philadelphia. It's about three miles out of your way but so worth it. Both my kids have Celiac and loved it. They have no flour in the building though they have gluten buns and pre-made stuff they fry. They do have a dedicated fryer for non-gluten items. My kids had a GF cheeseburger which my son said was outstanding (even without ketchup) and a GF grilled cheese with sweet-potato tots and fries. All great. I had the fried shrimp which were battered in corn meal. They were great. The server said no one in restaurant owner's family is Celiac. They just happened upon GF and started attracting a crowd.
This food is excellent and made very safe. There is no loose floor in the restaurant and everything fried is made with corn starch is its fully safe. Dedicated fryers. I've had the fried chicken strips and my wife had had that has well as the fried fish. Both were so good. Pretty much every burger can be made gluten free with a gluten free bun. Highly recommend this place.
Great good and tons of options! They use cornstarch only in their frying process so the vast majority of their food is safe. Their French fries are absolutely the best I’ve ever had and their staff is so friendly and helpful. I can’t believe it took me so long to actually try this place. It will become a regular spot for us!
A thoroughly enjoyable experience! Sat at the bar and met the co-owners and a fellow diner who could not say enough about the quality and safety of the food. This friendly place is very serious about a safe and enjoyable dining experience. I had a crab cake sandwich, it was delicious and very generous. The French fries were some of the best! They offer a GF beer and several GF seltzer’s (I did not try them, but others at the bar were enjoying them).
Great small diner experience! The menu is very clearly marked with what what is GF, can be made GF, and what isn't. Fries are delicious!!! Got the "Truffle Shuffle" with a gluten free bun, which was one of the best buns I have had at at a restaurant. The servers and kitchen staff were very clear about my needs and how to avoid cross contamination and allergies. My husband also has a mushroom allergy and they asked questions to make sure they could meet those needs as well. Great casual dining and a great place to get a burger, definitely coming back here!
This place is awesome. I went there on Saturday morning and got fried eggs, bacon and hash-browns. I was told the hash-browns and fries were safe since they had their own fryer. I went back on Wednesday to get a bacon cheeseburger with fries. They have gluten free buns and wow was the burger good! I highly recommend this place!
Great food! A little mom pop restaurant, just down the street from the airport. Not dedicated GF menu but the staff take great effort in meeting dietary and allergic restrictions. No items expressly said GF but we know what we can and can't have. Our server explained ingredients for any questions we had. The food was delicous, and my wife with celiac had no reactions after our visit, so we know the staff was careful and attentive. This may become my goto whenever I fly in/out of Richmond.
This place is safe and has fantastic food! Delightful young couple run the place (he is the chef) and are extremely cognizant of gf safety precautions and want everyone to be able to enjoy their restaurant. Only a few things are not gluten-free (the waffle, mac & cheese). I had a buffalo chicken sandwich (see picture) that was made with a real, thick chicken breast, and the best french fries I've ever had. They also have 3-4 ciders available. About a mile from the Richmond airport - definitely will be getting food to-go for outbound flights or dinner after arriving home. (3/22 - The exterior sign is being replaced; Fat Boy's is beside Burton's Auto Repair , and there's a green and white striped awning across the front of the restaurant.)
