I went here in October 2021, having seen some positive reviews. However, the staff were very unhelpful. I informed them of my allergy immediately and shared that I had seen great reviews about the place and accommodations being made, and asked if they could confirm what was GF. The server didn’t know and made no effort to offer to ask. When he came back with drinks I asked to talk to another server who also did not know and was dismissive, leaving after stating he didn’t know either.
I finally caught a third server as she walked by to ask the same question. She was able to help and personally prepared a meal, which I really appreciated. However, I felt that there was poor communication between the staff and very little effort to answer my question until I intervened myself. I know others have had great experiences and I did once I got a hold of the third(!) server, but if information could be shared with everyone about allergy protocol or even having GF options clearly listed on the menu, it would make things a lot smoother.
October 7. 2021. Went there for dinner hoping for a good GF Mexican dinner. As a general rule, Mexican food can usually be modified to be GF. NOT AT THIS PLACE. I told our first server that I had a severe gluten allergy and asked for a GF menu. The server brought me the alcohol and told me that the alcohol might be GF. I asked a second server if they can accommodate my gluten allergy and she told me no. A third server then told me that the kitchen could make me a meal with corn tortillas, however she had no idea about cross-contamination or if any sauces were GF. This is when I decided to leave. I get really sick when I get exposed to gluten. This place gave me absolutely no confidence that I could eat there and not get sick. I really hate leaving bad reviews, but this place gave me no choice. BEWARE!!
The waitress went right away to get the manager and he went through all my options on the menu. He even personally verified my choices with his staff to insure they prepared it correctly. But, what made this place really awesome was the manager preparing me my own chips in a pan because they have a shared fryer. You can’t beat that kind of service!!!
Food was GREAT! Chips are fried in oil with breaded items and margarita mix had "natural flavors" listed so I didn't order either of those however, the manager went above and beyond - cooked some chips separate for me also offered to make a margarita without the mix! He advised me not to order the enchilada sauce as it has flour. I'm definitely SOLD on this place and all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful!!!!!
Everything there can be made gluten free and it is delicious! They are also extremely helpful and if you message them on their Facebook page they will answer any of your gluten free related questions. Their fb page is www.facebook.com/fiestaaztecamexicanbarandgrillIf you don't have the right fb page then a bunch of unrelated fiesta aztecas will come up, so be sure you have the right one.It is our go to gluten free place other than eat n park and they have flan that they make themselves from scratch and it is a gluten free dessert.
