My family stayed at the Dana on Mission Bay where the Firefly is located in a July of 2024. Our first morning we went to the buffet. I asked our hostess about gluten free items and what would be safe for my 8 yr old with celiac to eat. She assured me that the eggs, bacon and sausage would be fine and that she herself was gf and eats it all the time. We got a plate of the above items and my daughter wanted potatoes. I couldn't find the hostess so I asked someone else who was bringing out more food. He said that everything has cross contamination and the they couldn't call any of of it gluten free. While I was at the buffet, I then saw that the bacon and sausage pan was lined at the bottom with wheat bread. My daughter did not eat anything else and I informed the hostess that there was bread in the pan. She said knew that but just grabs from the top. The next morning we took actual gf food down with us so my daughter could eat with us at the table outside while we ate the buffet. The same hostess told me I could not do that. I asked why not when there was nothing that she could eat on the buffet? I was told very rudely that she has celiac and eats it all the time and it doesn't make her sick so we could not have our other food. I. left the restaurant in tears for my daughter who was so sad. The breakfast was 100% not gf and the staff was so rude. I don't recommend.

Gluten free items are actually not marked on the menu, but our server was knowledgeable about what I should and shouldn’t order. The mushroom risotto is delicious! Cute place and nice atmosphere!

The ceasar salad was outstanding till I found the crouton at the bottom of the bowl. :( the veg soup was tasty and the atmosphere was quiet and calming. Would have been 5 stars but now I feel crappy.

The staff was knowledgeable about gluten free items. GF items are designated on the menu. I had a very good watermelon and tomato salad for lunch. I also had brunch on another day. A yogurt and fruit selection were available, and there was an omelette station. The chef preparing the omelets was great. I am Celiac and I had no issues.
