We have a small, family cabin nearby and every time I come up here, I always try to stop at First Place Cafe. They are very nice and make an awesome cheese & bacon omelette with home fries and gluten free toast (upon request). I'm currently eating one as I type this out. They will also turn sandwiches into salads upon request. Fries are not safe, but home fries are grilled, not fried & don't have any seasoning on them. As in, you will have to add your own salt & pepper. And, on an important note, the coffee is also fresh and hot!

They also do gluten free French toast.

They have also given me home fries in place of French fries (upon request) when I ordered a burger without the bun. Basically, they do what they can to accommodate.

They are located about 20 minutes away from Promised Land State Park, so I also sometimes stop here if we are going to spend the day there because the park does not have any substantial gluten free options at their concession stand. I order a gluten free cold sandwich or salad to go on the way so I am not stuck eating chips & other snacks all day.

If you are not familiar with this area, places that offer any GF options are hard to find. Planning ahead is a must!

None of us are celiac, but they asked how sensitive we are and then grilled the bread to minimize the chance of cross contamination. I mentioned my food allergies and they were helpful in advising me what to avoid. GF bread was corn-free and good. Burgers were good and tasted like they were handmade from fresh meat.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered the California burger on GF bread. Really good! They asked if I was allergic so they could cook it separately.

Simple & delicious sandwich shop. They asked if I had a gluten sensitivity and then prepared my grilled chicken separately from other items on the grill. Sesame gluten free bread was delish!
