Sandra was incredible. I am not celiac but I am gluten sensitive combined with a variety of other quirky allergies. She listened carefully, made recommendations and advised me on how she could accommodate all of my concerns. The food was delicious and Sandra’s care truly made the experience exceptional.

Saw this place on the app and figured since I was in the area… knowledgeable about gluten & dairy allergy. I had the crab cakes & fish fry. Perfect amount of food! Fresh, hot, tasty.

We stopped here while driving up the coast and it was such a delightful surprise! They have a separate GF menu, and a dedicated GF fryer! I had a chicken club with fries, and fried oysters. It was all delicious, and Rodney was a wonderful server!

Wonderful! Great gluten free menu, lovely calamari, fish and chips, clam chowder, and focaccia. Server was wonderful and checked in with us a bunch. Ask for gluten free menu but she said they could make a bunch of the stuff on the regular menu gf too. Definitely worth a stop!

From beginning to end, they knew how to make sure that I had a wonderful meal. They have a dedicated gluten free menu and have been doing gluten free since 2008. We started with NE clam chowder which was amazing, flavorful and chunky. Next up was the oysters on the half shell that my hubby ate with the horseradish and cocktail sauce while opted for the light shallot sauce and a squeeze of lemon - they were so fresh and briney. Then, crab cakes that were on a bed of slaw, had a side of corn salsa and a spicy sauce. Together, it was a perfect bite. We finished off the meal with the crab and artichoke quesadilla which was actually 4 large corn tortillas stuffed to the gils served with beans, a masa cake, sour cream, salsa, and avocado. It's been forever since I last had a flavorful quesadilla, and this one did not disappoint. My husband can eat gluten, but did not miss it anywhere.

Take every amazing review of this place and elevate it. Such accommodations and the staff were above and beyond. Rodney and Angela are like family now. The GF options were so good we had to come back the next day. I can assure the best GF meal and the best staff. A must visit.

Amazing restaurant! Very casual feel but top notch food. Separate gluten free menu, and they can modify more options on the full menu. The staff are very knowledgeable. Some of the best seafood I’ve ever had! This is a must if you visit Carmel!

Clam chowder was fine and GF. Repeatedly assured that fried dishes are in dedicated fryer.
Ordered fried oysters, which were grimy and foul and we immediately reacted badly. Given our symptoms a few hours later, definitely cross contaminated if not worse.
Manager was dismissive and offended in response to our complaints, although comp’d our appetizer. We cancelled out entrées and left.

This place takes gluten free seriously. It was my first time to have fish and chips since my celiac diagnosis, and it was wonderful! The Blue Point oysters are fabulous. Lunch was so good that we ate here two days in a row!

Fabulous food and service. I am totally stuffed. When there are so many GF options, it’s easy to over indulge. Be sure to try the calamari and the fried oysters. Both fun treats when we normally cannot have fried foods. Yummy! Separate frier and nice to know we can eat safely. A must do when in Carmel! Ask for Rodney!

Mediocre service and food. Fish and chips on the bland side and portion was very small given the price. At least they had a dedicated fryer and took precautions to keep food separate.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. They have a separate gluten-free menu that is fairly large. My son has celiac and used to love fish and chips and calamari. He was able to get both at this restaurant. He said it was the best dinner ever. The staff was amazing and very attentive. Highly recommend if your in Carmel.

Incredibly nice staff and delicious meal. Gluten free menu with a plethora of options, including, thanks to a dedicated fryer, treats including fried calamari and fish and chips. Also GF pasta and a pizza option. GF bread provided and a yummy flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Definitely worth a visit!

I’m giving this place five stars because there are a ton of GF options and I didn’t get sick. But, it really wasn’t so delicious. We won’t be going back. But, if you want super fried safe food, set your expectations low and go here.

Went here for lunch specifically because they can make things gluten free. They have a dedicated area for GF items including a dedicated fryer. I love French fries but they aren’t often GF so when I get them I’m pretty excited about it! We requested the GF crab cakes but they were out of them. I ordered the fish and chips. They were really good. The fish wasn’t battered like normal fish and chips but Dredged in GF flours. It was really, really good. It was fresh and tasty. The fries were very good too. They had a GF menu and outdoor dining. I have eaten there before a few years ago but forgot about it until we got there and I remembered the place. I didn’t have a reaction to the food.

We were craving some seafood and had a fantastic meal here. They have a separate gluten free menu with tons of options—literally a full menu. They also have a dedicated fryer and the wait staff was very knowledgeable and even the servers wore single use gloves, which I was happy to see. My daughter is Celiac and was able to have fried calamari and one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted—all with no issues. We also had the crab stuffed quesadilla, crab salad and even an amazing raspberry cake for dessert—all gluten free. We’re already planning our next meal here.

Gluten found according to the Nema sensor, tested twice. This was after we talked to a manager who insisted that our plane pan seared salmon, with steamed vegetables would be totally safe. Nima sensor detected gluten, and we tested it twice to confirm. Bringing our takeout food back to the restaurant, the manager insisted that this wasn’t possible because they take tons of precautions, and tried to argue with me. We ended up getting the clam chowder instead. That Newman tested fine. But the manager should take the Numa sensor information more seriously. Avoid this if you were celiac.

I have eaten here before with no problems. Today I ordered clam chowder and crab cakes. A few hours later I was not well and feel that I was glutened. Other reviews also seem to indicate that they are not careful about cross contamination.

Be aware...We ordered an appetizer, and asked for it gluten free (without bread on top). But, when it came out there was bread on top, and they mentioned that it was gluten free bread, but it was not! Even though that did happen, they were very sorry and took ownership. We suggest that you make sure that your food is gluten free when it arrives. But, there was no cross contamination with any of our other food. Knowledgeable, but please be aware here! I would not avoid based on our experience, but just be aware...
Some of the food was a bit dry and overcooked.

Gluten free fried calamari is as delicious as anywhere compared to the gluten version. The GF fish and chips and clam chowder are good as well. I’d say the best dish is the calamari however. I’d give it a 10/10 and the others a 8/10 in taste.
Lots of outside seating during covid. We were seated immediately.

Yes, they have lots of GF options. We came here because of the good reviews. And I haven't had crab cakes in years. They were mediocre at best. I ordered lobster tail and I got two tails from lobsters closer to jumbo shrimp size. They were not cleaned it was so gross. There were dry potatoes and corn of corn that looked dry like it has been sitting under the heat lamp. I would have sent it back if the people at the next table weren't already complaining about their meals. And I never send things back. The kids pizza (not GF) was soggy and had toppings we couldn't identify. Husband liked his GF fish tacos.
The kitchen staff is clueless when it comes to actually preparing gluten-free food using the resources they claim to have, such as a gluten-free deep frier. Instead, everything is cross-contaminated; they’re cooking gluten items in the “gluten-free” frier and vice versa. Everything I ordered here failed NIMA testing. Stay away!

Super knowledgeable staff. I put in our reservation that I have celiac, and the host showed up with a gluten free menu and the server was a few moments behind, ready to explain how the kitchen is structured. There’s a separate gluten free area, and they can make almost everything on the menu celiac-friendly. She brought us the best gf focaccia I’ve ever tasted, I had a bite of someone’s clam chowder (server assured me it was safe), and we started with gf calamari. For entrees, my husband and I shared the fish and chips and lobster melt, both gf obviously. They weren’t out-of-this-world amazing in flavor, but it was so nice to go out with my family and not worry about what I could or couldn’t order. 5 stars for service and menu! I’ll definitely be back.

So many choices!!! Great staff very knowledgeable of celiac disease.
This place is the bees knees! Delicious food, friendly staff and super knowledgeable about celiac. Our waiter said in his ten years working there he has only seen four incidents where someone was accidentally served gluten.

So many GF treats - fried calamari and oysters, fish and chips, GF New England clam chowder. So good!
Fantastic! Separate menu and very knowledgeable and accommodating staff and kitchen for Celiac and other food allergies. Wish I lived closer!
Had the pasta and crab cakes. So yummy they had GF ciabatta bread too!
Highly recommend!!!

Great place to eat when you're in Carmel having here several times and never been sick. I'm extremely sensitive celiac
Our waitress was responsive and knowledgeable about celiac. She assured me the gluten free focaccia bread was kept separately from regular bread, that there was a separate prep area for GF food, and a dedicated fryer.
She scored huge points with the cocktail I ordered. I asked her if any of the ingredients had artificial flavorings (I explained that could potentially cause problems for people with celiac). She didn’t know the answer but said she would check. When she returned she had a cocktail with her—she said that they couldn’t figure out for certain if one of the ingredients was gluten free so the bartender substituted something he or she knew was GF. Cocktail was delicious and I felt even more comfortable about the meal ahead because of how the waitress handled it.
For dinner I had the GF fish and chips and they were great! I’d eat here regularly if I lived in the area.

So enjoyable to come to a restaurant and have so many options. Staff is very knowledgeable. Dedicated fryers. Gluten Free menu with large selection including fish and chips, soups and sandwiches. GREAT!

Decent GF options, but when my mother and I ate here, she got so violently sick with food poisoning that we almost got in an accident racing home to Mountain View. I (celiac) was fine, but she has never been so sick before in her life after having the fish tacos. Don't risk it!
The gf New England clam chowder was amazing. The fish and chips were good not great. Not as crispy as I would have liked. They serve Gluten free bread also which was warm and very good. Great service! Slow getting the check picked up but other than that it was great.
GF fish and chips was wonderful!
Yes
Staff was well versed in GF food, how they prep everything. GREAT GF options. Will being GF bread to the table if you wish. They will substitute almost anything on the menu. We were told the owners are suffering from celiac issues themselves and are understanding of others having gluten issues.
Service was really good and our waitress was really kind. She forgot my cup of chowder before our lunch came and immediately brought and told us she would not charge for it. The gluten free option for the fish and chips had corneal for the breading which we thought would be great for the kids; however it lacked flavor and was not seasoned at all. Half of it was left. The chips were also soft and a little mushy. It definitely felt more like diner food than a quality restaurant. The fish tacos for my gluten allergy wife were just ok. We feel bad about the review as the service was great and they were accommodating, the execution just fell flat.
