This place is no longer dedicated gluten free. They serve regular rolls with the lobster rolls
Daughter had fries cooked in separate fryer. All the food was amazing! Very helpful with GF
So many choices, everything is GF. Food was great. This place is great.
This was the 1st visit for me and my hubby to Flo Do Mar ( Sea Flower). The owners started this cute little eatery to fill the need for safe dedicated gluten free food requested by their customers at their other restaurant Brazilian Gula Grill. The owners understand the need to control cross-contamination thus starting a separate place to serve gluten free customers. My hubby had the Brazilian Paella, with a lovely subtle flavor of saffron. We both shared the New England Clam Chowder, thick and creamy with lots of yummy seafood. I had the Captains Platter of shrimp, cod and scallops with a very nicely seasoned rice flour light coating. The two people that served us were very compassionate, understanding and had a sense of ownership and responsibility to serve safe delicious food to the gluten-free population. We live an hour away and were in the area taking care of some business. Now I know I have a place to stop in for lunch or dinner next time in the area!
Excellent gf options. The clam chowder is fantastic and the sweet potato fries are possibly the best I've ever had. GO THERE! This makes a fantastic stop if you are driving up or down the East coast. In a food hall with lots of other options for gluten eaters in your party.
Absolutely incredible! Clam chowder was delicious as were the crab cakes. But even better was the owner’s customer service. Will be back again and again!
I had the fried shrimp and french fries and I was in HEAVEN. They are extremely dillengent and the owner explained how they cook and shared information about all the ingredients. 10/10 experience. I will definitely be going back. I am celiac and going to a food court is always so overwhelming/gives me anxiety as I'm never sure I will find something that I can eat. Now I know I will always have Flor do Mar!
Had a delicious hot lobster roll with sweet potato fries! So happy to see a dedicated gluten free restaurant in this fun location. This is a great place for a celiac like me to meet up with a bunch of friends who might want different food options. (Of course I recommend the food for everyone!)
The food was delicious and so glad to have a place so good that is gluten-free
Such incredible food! We thought fish and chips were out of our lives for good. Not here. My daughter was in Hartford for a convention. She would eat no where else. Really quick and pleasant service. No possibility of cross-contamination here. Fish & chips, lobster roll, catfish all were fantastic! Well priced. If we lived near Hartford we would visit weekly or more. I'm not gluten-free and I enjoyed the fish just as much as my daughter. A must try for celiac/GF eaters.
An amazing celiac safe restaurant with almost entirely GF menu. No risk for cross contamination and staff extremely knowledgeable. We had the lobster roll (best we’ve ever had!), seafood platter, and paella. Everything was beyond our expectations!
It's always special when the guy serving you food that reminds you of your favorites from before your diagnosis also seems like a genuinely kind and passionate human being. Don't come thinking that the only thing that will blow you away is the lobster roll. 10/5 stars.
Amazing! We had the lobster rolls, plantains, & mango smoothies. It was definitely the best lobster roll I have ever had. The market is great too. Lots of options.
I had a seafood paella and it was great! What a treat. Everything is gluten-free and you can even get fried fish or crabcakes. Really worth a visit!
Everything is Gf except for the option for a regular roll for their Lobster Roll.
The space seems clean, the staff was knowledgeable about GF. They said the batter for fried fish was a mixture of rice flour and corn flour.
Definitely going again. It was in a great spot because everyone else in our family could choose what ever restaurant they wanted to. We took our very sensitive son there and he tried their paella. He’s a picky child eater but he thought the steak was very tasty. Next time I’ll get him to try maybe the fried shrimp or lobster. Flavor was excellent, food was hot and fresh, and their coconut cookies were yummy too.
Excellent experience! 100% GF kitchen inside the Parkville Market. (They have regular rolls if you choose but are kept in a separate part and there is NO cross contamination) Food was fresh, made to order. Smoothie and pineapple mousse were super yummy too! Celiac safe-no issues! Plenty of parking & seating. We will absolutely be visiting again.
The place is like a spot in a food court with lots of different Latin cuisine offerings, which I occasionally crave, and would be fun to visit with friends. It is nice to have a dedicated, celiac-friendly eating spot. I ordered the Valencia paella and codfish cakes. It was tasty, although not quite like what I've had in in other Brazilian, Portuguese or Spanish restaurants, but I would go back. Next time I'm definitely trying some fried seafood.
Great place and menu selections…Food was really good. I had a really nice conversation with Deco (owner/chef) and he completely gets the risks associated with celiac disease and cross contamination to the point that the “regular” bun lobster rolls on the menu are prepared in the food stand next door. His hot sauce is quite nice as well. Definitely going back next time I am in Hartford.
Delicious! Was able to get fried food from a 100% gluten free facility so no worries about cross contamination. The fried shrimp basket and fries were wonderful. I’ll be back.
Exceeded my expectations. Paella was great and so we’re the cod croquettes. 100% gf facility. I was a little concerned because I saw they had a regular bread option for the lobster rolls. The manager heard me ask the employee checking me out and assured me the bread is at a totally different restaurant. He was super nice and said he opened this place to guarantee it was safe for celiacs. It’s also a good spot to go with a group since people can get food from different places in the market. Highly recommend!
The whole establishment is gluten free. The food was so good. This will definitely be a new take out place for our family.
Entire menu is gluten freeable. Fish and chips, paella, fried shrimp,
The kitchen is 100% gluten free, as the owner very proudly told us. They do have a second business attached to the GF side that is not GF (lots of sandwiches), but he told me the kitchens are separate. We ordered the fish and chips and the crab cakes. Not the best I've had, but glad to have the option!
Fish and Chips was excellent… huge portion of fish, perfectly fried, and the fries were excellent. My daughter got the clam chowder and finished two cups. Best chowder I have had in a long time. 100% gluten free… looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. I recently went back again and got the Brazilian Paella… It was excellent.
Ate here yesterday when dropping son off at college. So nice to be able to eat battered scallops, cod and shrimp, with fries, in the full knowledge that it was all GF. The coating was tasty. Great place.
Finally a dedicated gluten free place to eat at the Parkville market. Even better the food was amazing. The best yuca fries I’ve ever had. Clam chowder, lobster roll, fish and chips, and croquettes were all excellent. They offer the lobster roll with a non-GF bun, but I don’t think the buns were toasted so risk of cross contamination seems minimal.
Oh my gosh! The hot lobster roll was absolutely delicious!!! I will definitely be back
This was a pleasant surprise. Been a long, long time since I've enjoyed fried seafood. I had the fried scallops - absolutely delicious! They use a corn batter for the coating. I'll go back to try to paella bowls, which looked pretty fantastic.
One warning - they do have regular rolls for the lobster roll as well as GF ones. You need to specify.
Flor Do Mar is an amazing 100% gluten free restaurant located in Parkville Market! Amazing New England Clam Chowder, fried scallops and fish, Cod croquettes, everything!
