While taking my daughters here for ice cream (I had no plan to get anything) with my wife, I was surprised to find that they have several allergies listed for their ice creams and even have gluten free cones. I have horrible reactions to even a tiny bit of gluten, so I was still skeptical. My wife asked and they explained their process for celiac disease.
With a clean scraper, they remove any exposed ice cream down a few inches so that only untouched ice cream is exposed. Then they use a clean scoop to get the ice cream. The two girls seemed knowledgeable, and I was feeling risky for some crazy reason, so I tried it. Didn’t get sick at all and the GF chocolate peanut butter ice cream was terrific! While waiting, we also saw that you can buy the ice cream in bulk. I’ll have to look into it next time.
