Awesome fresh food and everything except ranch, ancho sauce, steak and tortillas are gluten free
The staff was excellent when it came to informing my wife and I what was GF on their menu. The guy, whose name I forgot, was super helpful. He immediately took off his serving gloves, washed his hands, and put a new pair on even before he grabbed a tray to help us. They informed me that besides all the flour tortillas the only other items with gluten were their steak, BBQ sauce, and their ranch dressing. So there are actually quite a few options as well as combinations to choose from. I had a pulled pork burrito bowl (less carbs) and my wife had the chicken bowl. We also had chips and queso. Every bit was delicious and we'll definitely be back.
The only gluten free option is a salad. I also have a dairy intolerance and all of their dressings are mainly dairy based, except the vinaigrette.
Like chipotle, there is a risk of cross contamination in the way that the food is served from the large containers. They’re good at changing gloves. They even have vegan options for the vegan in your life. Online, they have a very clear allergy info sheet. Don’t eat the chips or the steak, they’re not gluten free.
Have eaten here twice in past month with no problems. Got burrito bowl (no tortilla) with white meat chicken, black beans, Mexican rice, cilantro, lettuce, pico, salsa, roasted peppers and onions, garlic, lime juice, mixed cheese and sour cream. Portion is almost enough for 2 meals. Staff changes gloves when told you have allergy/celiac. More flavorful than Chipotle. Taking off one star since don’t carry corn or other GF soft taco shell or tortilla.
My first experience here was great! I wasn’t going to eat anything because I didn’t see any signs about gluten free options but the guy behind the counter encourage me to order a bowl. He quickly washed his hands and changed his gloves and guided me through my options! I had a yummy chicken fajita bowl and a sweet marshmallow treat too.
Nachos are a great gluten free option. Add queso for extra spice.
The tortillas are not gluten free as they're heated up on the same steamer as the flour tortillas. Also, the chips are full of cross contamination because they don't change their gloves before digging in to get the chips. Because of this, the gloves they used to make someone's burrito are put into the chip bin and contaminates the chips. 😕. Everything else is gluten free.
Good about changing gloves. Food was tasteless and gross. Won't be back.
The staff made my meal and I was about to pay for it, when Patrick the manager asked me if I was gluten free because of allergies. When I told him yes, he threw the meal away because his staff did not change their gloves. He then said he would make my meal personally to make sure it was done right. He changed his gloves and got out fresh utensils to keep my food from being cross contaminated.
We ordered our food to go. I tried to plan ahead, but their website isn't very helpful for making smart gluten free choices, neither is their menu, but we worked it out. They have an allergen list, which I hate. Who has time for that? I hope they decide to simplify things in ther future. Having been my first time eating from here, I enjoyed their burrito bowl very much. It was a simple carnita with cilantro rice and pico. Very tasty and I had no issues with cross contamination. What I found most interesting is that I didn't need to add anything to the meal like a sauce or spice. The meal had lots of flavor. I'm looking forward to eating from there again.
All meats but the steak are gluten free
Can do any bowl. Only things not gluten free were the steak and of course the tortillas. They had the allergen guide readily available.
The staff was great. I expected them to just change their gloves. They have a whole procedure which includes fresh clean utensils, a plate straight out of the package and the best part was they seemed very happy to do it.
Wow I'm a Celiac and have been craving nachos, so happy that their fryer is not cross contaminated. So many topping choices, I'll be back. Next day still no reaction
The staff was not knowledgeable about their gluten free opinions. They did not know if the nachos were gluten free and had no package there for me to check. The food is in a counter, so it has cross contamination.
GF was fine, but had to ask staff to pause when they began to place corn tortilla on same press used for flour tortillas. Shifted to a bowl and had no issues, but view it as a near-miss. Tasted better than Chipotle, but otherwise a similar dining experience.
Nachos are safe! The employees are always quick to wash their hands and change gloves for me when I tell them I have a gluten allergy.
I wish the staff was a little bit knowledgeable sometimes but they always give a list, which helps. The food is great and most things, except the ranch, steak, ancho sauce, flour tortillas, and dessert, are gf.
The staff member I interacted with was a complete ass about gluten free options. He said the steak wasn't gf because the cows had eaten grass. Clearly this staff had no idea what gluten is. Will not be returning.
Awesome!!! Great knowledgeable staff.
I had a grilled chicken bowl and explained that I am celiac. The employees took special care not to cross contaminate. He even changed his fresh gloves as soon as I told him just to be extra safe.
I love Freebirds, maybe even more than Chipotle. Everything is gluten free except their tortillas, of course, and their bbq sauce. Good portion size for a good price. Be sure you let the server know you need to be gluten free and ask for clean gloves etc.. A couple of things they use their hands to get, but they don't have a problem getting uncontaminated stuff from the back. I have celiac disease and have never gotten sick here.
They have gf options of a bowl, salad, or corn tortillas, but the set up looks like a cross contamination nightmare if you're Celiacs.
I was feeling guilty for requesting GF. They went out of their way to check my choices before I got in line. Very appreciative.
The food was tasty but the girls working there had no idea about gluten free. And continued to insist I could eat the flour tortillas even after I explained that there was gluten in them. It's a bad idea to argue with a customer and even worse when it's over a very bad allergy. I should have left but was tired and hungry and I know my options at freebirds.
