Have been coming for years and loved the fresh sushi, best in town. However the last two visits in a row we had issues where my husband’s burger came out on a regular bun, not gluten free (thank God we realized their error before he started eating both times), but this last visit was the final straw. I ordered my usual gf sushi with gf soy sauce. After eating the first roll, after it was cleared, the waitress brought over a regular soy sauce to refill the dipping dish. I reminded her I needed the gf soy sauce and she said the ponzu sauce is the only gf option. I told her the ponzu sauce usually has gluten, please go check w the kitchen. She came back out and confirmed it did have gluten but also said I had just eaten it as that is what was served w the first roll. I prob. should have left at that point but we were with company. I told her I was for sure going to be sick. She had indifference at this statement. The rest of my sushi rolls came out with a sauce underneath. Normally they are served without sauce. I didn’t realize the sauce was on the bottom until I ate a piece. I again asked the waitress to make sure the sauce didn’t have gluten, and she came back and said it did. She also asked if I wanted to just eat around it. I mean come on, it’s rice? How was I supposed to eat around rice soaked in gluten? Also when I asked her to please replace it, my friend started eating the one left on the table. She came over and asked if he wanted to finish eating it, and he said yes, and she said that she would have to charge him if he did. Like what?? We always try to be discreet, not make a scene or be a pain, and we certainly were not in the business of trying to get free glutoned sushi but that surprised me. No credit on the bill either, not that we expected one. We still tipped her generously, but her attitude, and their multiple slip-up’s, have resulted in me crossing this one off my list. Management should either decide to educate staff or not bother offering gf options so we know not to bother going there. Thanks for the weekend of being sick as a dog! So fun!
