Review of Fuddruckers

So we are trying Fudruckers tomorrow for a birthday party we will attend. I'll write a review about whether they were Celiac friendly after our visit. But in hopes that "Unnamed" who posted earlier, I write this to hope he might be more tolerant of the extra work he complained about. My son and I have Celiac's Disease, which as many people don't realize is not an allergy or intolerance, but a genetic disease where, for some people, the response to even trace amounts of gluten is for the body to develop antibodies against itself, particularly in the lower intestines, attacking them and damaging its ability to absorb nutrition from food. It is a series disease and if untreated stunts growth (my 10 year old son was losing weight for unexplained reason, having frequent severe reflux into his mouth while standing up, severe daily headaches, his teeth were staining and he was developing juvenile psoriatic arthritis and ADD type symptoms, and more). Celiacs can lead to really serious secondary auto immune diseases. So to the Fudrucker's employee "Unnamed" who posted how inconvenienced he is by having to clean the grill off or fry the fries separately from the food that will be served as "Gluten Free" to customers, I hope your comments were just because no one has ever explained the disease to you. Not all people avoiding Gluten are doing it as part of a fad; the cross contamination is a real issue for many and causes a lot of suffering for people who have the disease. As for the people who have allergies or intolerance, they deserve the right to know if the food being labeled "gluten free" is truly gluten free as well. Restaurant owners/management choose whether or not to make accommodations for people with the condition. If you don't want to have to deal with the extra work those accommodations require, wouldn't it be better to work at a restaurant that doesn't do it? The majority don't. I hope that in your life you don't have a close friend or family member who has the disease because, believe me, it's much more than an inconvenience living with all the restrictions the disease entails, especially for a child.
