Review of Garry's Grill

The menu states what is gf. The server was enthusiastic in trying to serve something safe. However it was clear they had no clue what gluten was. They thought it was just bread and pasta. I ordered fish with steamed veggies and the fish comes with a soy glaze so I specifically asked about whether the gf version would include that glaze, since soy sauce has gluten. The waiter went off to discuss with the chef. Came back and asked me to clarify. I explain what gluten is and explain there is Tamari sauce or soy sauce labelled gf. Went off. Came back, clarify more. Went off. Came back saying they just wouldnt put the glaze on. I give the waiter credit for making every effort to his understanding of the situation and sincerely wanting me to have a safe experience. But the chef and establishment does not have an understanding of gluten despite having a menu with gf indicators.

Their baker is celiac, I was told, her desert menu states that it is not safe for celiac or very sensitive people. I got a creme brulee and it was delicious.
