Absolut empfehlenswert!
Authentic Bavarian
This was a fun find! Traditional Bavarian dishes, many can be prepared gluten free. Very celiac aware, reports dedicated kitchen space. The menu was clearly marked with a green asterisk for items that can be prepared gf. Menu entirely in German, but google photo translate does a great job. It was very busy and the waitstaff was hustling to keep up, but had no problems with gf. Recommend making a reservation.
Roast pork, roast beef in gravy, duck, schnitzel, and sausages as mains. Sides of knoedel, kaese spaetzle, sauerkraut, and red cabbage, etc. You can pay extra to modify the sides for your meal. There were a few gf desserts.
Can recommend the beef in brown onion gravy with kaese spaetzle and sausages with sauerkraut (but it’s a huge pile of kraut). And Kaiserschmarrn for dessert!
Gluten free beer available, and good. I think it was brewed fairly locally with non-gluten containing grains.
The food was ok, quite tasteless and the raw cabbage tasted like soap. I am celiac and there was a 2,50€ overprice for each meal, bread included (taken out of a schar plastic bag, that costed 1,80€ per slice + overprice). When we went up to pay the waiter asked if we wanted to leave a tip (but with the gluten free overprice I thought it wasn't the case) and we kindly refused. He laughed in our face and as soon as we were leaving he insulted us in german.
I found this restaurant from Wheatless Wanderlust (a travel blog highlighting gluten free options in cities around the world). According to that blog, they prepare the gluten free food in a separate area of the kitchen, but I did not confirm that with the staff. They had many meals on the menu which could be made gluten free, and had other allergens marked also! I had the gluten free Wiener Schnitzel and it was AMAZING. I definitely recommend coming here for safe, gluten-free food.
We had dinner at Gasthof Obermaier yesterday and were extremely pleased with our experience. The abundance of gluten-free options, coupled with the reassuring note stating “For those with celiac disease: these dishes are GUARANTEED gluten-free,” provided us with a great sense of security. Additionally, the selection of 4 different gluten-free beers, none of which we had encountered in supermarkets before, was a pleasant surprise. The food was wonderfully delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was charmingly rustic. We highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking delicious gluten-free dining options in a cozy atmosphere.
Excellent German food! My wife is celiac and they accommodated her easily. We split the goat cheese salad and the grilled bratwursts with sauerskaut expecting them to be small but they were surprisingly large portions! My wife had the duck as her main and it was very good. The staff made sure to announce the food was gluten free when we were served as well. Would recommend!
I loved this place! They were very knowledgeable and delicious. The menu is clearly marked and the staff confirmed they eliminate cross contamination. They also had vegetarian food including a warm goat cheese salad and delicious pumpkin soup. They also had gluten free beer! It was amazing.
As a celiac, we have had two great experiences here. We came aT Thanksgiving in 2018 and had a lovely meal. I think they had more gf options a few years ago as I remember having gf Spätzle with Pork medallions in a mushroom sauce. However this time, that was not marked gf. We still had a good experience even though the menu seems more limited. The waiter was very attentive re: gluten and spoke excellent English. The garden is lovely and wonderful in summer. The gf schnitzel was very good.
The food was ok, the service (including telling us about their gluten free options) could have been better. They don‘t offer gluten free fries, which could be expected if a restaurant advertises gluten free food (they do have glutened ones). There are better restaurants for celiacs in Munich and the area
What is advertised on website to accommodate gf and what is reality is drastic. Avoid at all costs. The service was horrible and server was unwilling to take a few extra minutes to accommodate celiac. Server ended up refusing to bring me the gf meal I ordered without explanation and didn’t try to Accommodate in any way, I never got or was offered an entree. Horrible experience
Excellent food with alot of gf choices. Our waiter spoke excellent English. We arrived before 6PM and got a table without issue, but if going later, it'd be best to make a reservation as it got packed. I'm vegetarian and gf, and even though the menu didn't have much listed, they were able to do gf spaetzle and gf vegetarian mushroom gulousch.. both of which were excellent. The children loved their gf smitzel. We drove there from our hotel close to there airport. It was worth the 30 minute drive, and plenty of free parking.
This place was amazing! The last time I came to Germany I was not GF yet. So coming this time I was sad that I wasn’t going to have a good German style beer, but we came here and the GF Weiss beer was soooo good! I even bought a couple bottles to go :) I also ordered the schnitzel with potatoes and I ate every crumb! The waitress was very nice and very accommodating to Celiac needs. I highly recommend if you are in the Munich area.
Excellent GF selection to include Wiener schnitzel and four designated GF beers! Prost!! GF menu is available online to view before traveling to the restaurant. I wish I could post pics of this tasty meal!!
We sat in the cutest bier Garten. It was the perfect start to our Germany/Austria vacation. So many beer/food options. One of my only chances to get traditional German dishes. GF Schnitzel, tradition German dessert, GF beers, delicious wine.
They have many gluten free dishes and beers. I had the Wiener schnitzel and the “original” gf beer. Both were very tasty. I also had the Kaiserschmarrn for desert. It was good, but I was already full by the end of my main course. The staff are very friendly, and they know exactly what to do when someone with celiacs walks in. If I ever get the chance to go back to Münich, I am 100% coming back here!
Typically German dishes, marked on the menu which one can be ordered and prepared gluten free. Not plenty of options but enough, food was very good but difficult for vegetarians since it is very Bavarian and a lot of meat. Stuff was very stressed and not the friendliest but after all a nice visit and good dinner!
Staff was wonderful , super knowledgeable and a great gluten free menu. Would definitely go back, especially for a Bavarian meal!
