A MUST!! I had salty cookies and cream in a gluten free waffle cone. He offered to use a different scoop as well.
SO GOOD!!
Almost all of the flavors are gluten free and menu is clearly marked.
Stopped here after a show and was really impressed. They label what items HAVE gluten (instead of which were Gluten-Free). They have GF cones and take everything from a new container using a clean scoop. I was so happy with their knowledge and I felt super good about eating here! And their gelato was delicious. They also had a lot of dairy-free options.
After seeing Cathy's review, my partner and I just had to check it out. And I gotta say, it was almost everything she said.
The specs: Gelato Boy seems to carry 14-16 flavors (two of the 16 being limited time) with only a few flavors containing gluten. There were also several dairy-free flavors. Additionally, they had options for a gluten-free cone or a dairy-free and sugar-free cone (not sure if there's a gf+df cone.) They also have bowls, gluten waffle cones and waffle bowls. There is also some drink options to mix the gelato with and pints you can buy. Gelato Boy is also located on a pretty busy street so you'll need to budget in parking costs (I spent $6 for half an hour).
It also has no bathroom, but there is a store down the stairs that you can ask to use the bathroom of, should you need to risk it (I didn't so I couldn't tell you what that experience would be.)
The experience: It was pretty crowded so not a lot of seating available but it wasn't busy so service time was pretty quick. I got 3 flavors (for around $8.50ish), lavender poppy, salty cookies and cream, and dark chocolate (dairy-free.) Everything on labeled as either dairy-free or GLUTEN! or had nothing, meaning it was gluten-free. The woman working the counter switched out the ice cream scoop for me with every new flavor (as to not put it in the possibly glutened ice cream scoop water cleaner.) My partner (non-gf) got three scoops, one of each gluten containing option that they enjoyed in a waffle bowl. It came out to be $19.13 but obviously price varies depending on scoop amounts and what type of ice cream vessel you get.
Overall, a nice little place to stop by if you don't mind downtown traffic.
